Guys, You don’t leave your car door open just because you might be driving again, do you? Just put the seat down already.
Ladies, I don’t care how sleepy you are – if you can’t check it before you sit, you deserve a wet ass.
Personally, I agree, with theposters regarding aerosols, and an uncovered toilet being nasty. I was raised to always lower the seat and close the lid.
OH, and any ladies out there with carpeted toilet lids – you DO know that sometimes it makes it damn near impossible for the seat to stay UP while we use it, right? A word of warning – I’ll use whatever I have to to prop it up…

Toilet seats are one of cleanest common surfaces on average. Read about it. But if you are very neurotic about toilet seats, use a liner or toilet paper.

actually the door handle or your sink tap has about 100x more germs than the toilet seat. im a girl and i dont think any guy should have to up the seat down constantly, they shouldnt have to suffer because some women are princesses over imaginary germs.
one thing i do hate is getting up in the middle of the night half asleep, and falling through cause i didnt check if the seat was down =D

I really don’t care about pee that much. But when the seat is left up, as a girl getting up in the middle of the night half asleep or going to the loo after you’re a bit merry from a few drinks, you run the risk of falling in. When you plunk down on the bowl expecting a seat and encountering none, it’s extremely unpleasant and painful.

my rule in my house is the lid needs to be left up if someone has pissed.
that way i at least know that they lifted it and there wont be any pee on the seat.
( im the only female in a house with 4 guys)

actually, a study that measured bacteria levels on different bathroom surfaces showed that if a toilet was flushed with the cover up, 10x more bacteria was later found on various surfaces, including the *toothbrushes*. the act of flushing aerosols bacteria into the air, and then they settle onto the sink, your toothbrush, etc.

that’s why you should put the cover down. the seat just happens to be under the cover.

that’s strange cause me and my husband never this seat up/down problem. what one does when they finish, you flush. don’t say u flush with the lid up? argh! disgusting!

That’s how my husband and I solved that debate. Also safer for pets (or kids, for those who have them), and keeps stuff from falling into the plumbing (which does tend to aggravate landlords).

The real solution is for guys to piss in the sink, then you can wash your hands and everyones happy.
