yeah, apartment life. ::sigh::
This is nowhere near as passive aggressive as me, the time i had put 75¢ into the machine to do my laundry, after pouring the soap in, and a girl came into the laundry room saying that she was “there first” and pointed to her laundry basket of dirty clothes, which was hiding behind the dryer “so it wouldn’t get stolen”. i started to argue but she was looking at me with so much venom in her eyes that i simply bitched out and smiled and said, “Oh, no problem! You know, i’ve already put money and soap in here, go ahead and use it because your time is obviously more important than mine.” and i marched out. To her credit, she actually looked pretty horrified. But seriously, what did she *think* was going to happen? i can’t remove the soap and quarters, lady! Crikey.

I can sympathize. My boyfriend and I live in an apartment building and the people directly upstairs from us must have lead in their shoes and apparently, they never sleep. Sometimes it sounds as if they’re rearranging their furniture up there, and sometimes this goes on well after 10pm. Then one Sunday morning, on the only morning I have to sleep in, they started running the vacuum cleaner at nine in the GD morning! I’d had enough at that point, so I marched right out of bed and headed upstairs despite my boyfriend’s suggestion to not say anything. Instead of going the passive-aggressive route and leaving an angry note on the door, I knocked right on her door and gave the vacuuming woman a “what for!” I told her that if she didn’t cut the noise early in weekend mornings and late and night, I’d call the cops on her for disrupting the peace.
She never pulled THAT crap, again. Now, at least, the noise is contained to normal waking hours.

I used to be the person in the apartment above… I once offered to learn the art of levitation as it was impossible to even tiptoe over the creaky old floors without making a sound. At least my downstairs neighbour came to talk to me about it in person…
