Everything everyone in research science has ever said about Med students and MDs has been proven utterly, utterly TRUE but this exchange. (wonder how long it’ll take that cutesy sorority handwriting to morph into an unreadable scrawl?)

Besides, Strunk and White will tell you (sort of) that simple is best. A sharpie “SCREW YOU” is both A) just tacky enough and B) quickly and effectively conveys your utter disregard for the petty bullshit of a total stranger. I’ve done it numerous times – lengthy office missives accusing second shift of stealing a ‘dew, lengthy missives from loud downstairs neighbors who think walking across your floor to get to the bathroom at 3AM is unconscionable.

Screw You – it’s simple and it works!

“Beg the question” means something completely different to what most people think. It’s actually a specific type of logical fallacy in which an assumption is made that is itself not demonstrated or addressed. Hermann is right – it’s a misuse in the context of the note, and the writer should have used “raise the question” instead.

Don’t worry, it’s a *very* common confusion!

The respondend uses “beg the question” correctly. All sins are immediately forgiven. Original writer was wrong in all ways, respondend right in all ways.

This is similar to the principle that any person who says or writes “value-add” shall be wrong about everything for not less than 12 hours following the utterance.
