Too bad the Pope didn’t have a miraculous recovery…and too bad the “comes in threes” roomie didn’t, while rushing by PS3′s earthly remains, slip on a wet spot on the floor {an ironically evanescent relic, if you like}, fall, hit their head concussively enough to send *them* into a permanent vegetative state…
.
Just sayin’…since there would’a’ been room for one more…

HAHAHA that would be so horrifying if your roommate actually DID keep a dead fish on her desk.
But the betta probably killed itself because it was living in a bowl that was probably 1/10th the size of a proper tank and had no heater (they’re from Thailand. It’s hot there). Not to mention waste builds up pretty quickly in stagnant water. It’s like being trapped in a port-a-potty. In Minnesota. In the winter.

Little Known Fact:

Some fish can be resuscitated, even after several hours of lying on the table next to their bowl. They may be dry and stiff, but they are not yet dead. Hold them by the tail in some water, and try to work the water into the fish’s gills. They’ll start wiggling in a minute or two.

I’ve personally done this with a goldfish and it lived for another four months.

Bettas, apparently, are actually quite hardy fish who can survive for a long time out of water. My brother found his “dead” betta under some furniture and covered in dust after a long time. He put it back in water, and it revived. Cate might want to try that next time…
