It’s been months since this thread was active, but this inaccuracy bothers me.

It’s very possible to be allergic to a shorthaired cat even if one isn’t allergic to another longhaired cat. Cats with darker fur put out more allergens, for example, so a shorthaired dark cat can be worse for allergy sufferers than a white longhair.

It’s also possible that one cat wasn’t enough to cause an allergic reaction, but two cats were.

A long-haired cat who is brushed daily could also put off fewer allergens than a shorthair who isn’t cared for as often.
