They want to get good jobs and pay their own way because welfare doesn't provide enough money, food or medical care. There are some people who take advantage but they are the exceptions and not the rule. The rule is divorced mothers with dead beat dads failing to provide child support. The rule is people who couldn't get an education because they grew up in poverty and they had no books. The rule is people who desperately want to move to where the jobs are but they can't put together enough money to get there. So, I'm sorry if you feel as though I was being glib.
