Yes, the new administration starts in 2009 but the ELECTION is in 2008. It makes no sense to ask “Is it 2009 yet ?” before knowing who would be president.

Clearly the passive aggressive one here is the person with the sticker on his car. If he really wants to get his message across, he needs to confront the president personally, sit him down, and ask him straight up, “Is it 2008 yet?” Just be direct, ya know?
