My roommate was pissed at me for the exact same reason, she was more to the point though, she put a post-it note on my pillow that simply said “WHORE!”

The roommate asked her to stop typing (typing!) in their little concrete cell and she ignores her. I’d say that I’m on the roommate’s side. You dumbass! If you can’t respect other people get an apartment off campus. Until then, use the common areas for typing at night. Jerk!

Liz, are you using one of those noisy ancient black typewriters, or what? If so, your roommate should have hit you over the head with it, which would have done both of you and the world a favor. You’d be dead and wouldn’t have to write a paper, she’d get a good night’s sleep in jail, and two brands of twit would be removed from the gene pool! Then, maybe you are just a garden-variety “the world revolves around what I want and if anyone doesn’t like it they have a problem” type, and your roomie resorted to passive-aggressive because this was the millionth time she had tried to deal with you nicely and got no response?!

Most campus have rules regarding hours of “quiet time” and how you have the rights, such as to sleep, and impeding on those rights is against policy.

Having lights and a TV on while a roommate is trying to sleep is extremely disrespectful. It seems that in reality that you turned out to be the bitch in that scenario.

Sorry, Liza is an ass. I had a roommate who used to entertain while I was trying to sleep. Another one used to wake up at 5 a.m. to do her makeup and spend 45 minutes mixing up her contact solution for the day. WTF??

My room sucks, because it’s three people basically thrown into a one room apartment. I took such a huge level of classes that I was FREQUENTLY up all night working on homework. Difference, i guess, is I’m an art student, so I’d have 20 hour projects per class, per week, very often, and I guess that art desn’t make obnoxious sounds?

Whatever the case, my roommate’s bed was right next to my desk, and I felt bad because I had music playing in my headphones (low, but I know you can still hear those at times), and I was up with a light, doing my work. Unlike with typing, with art you can’t just turn off the stupid light.

… see, my roommates and I got along just fine. This is how it goes:
me: Megan, I feel sooo bad because I keep having to stay up so much… please tell me if it’s annoying at all. I mean, I have to do my work, but I can try and work with you if you need it.
Megan: Don’t worry about it.

somehow, that delt with it. Difference is that with my old roommate, SHE would be up ALL night and have her headphones blasting and I would kindly ask her if she could maybe turn down her headphonse or… you know… move to the giant common room I had WITHIN our room. We had a huge apartment then.(My current building… NO common room. No extra space) and she wouldn’t even do that. I bought ear plugs and hated my life.

I think this semester I’ve been kept up like… twice from my roomies, but they’re nice enough about it that I don’t care (and then if I need to do it, they’re cool back to me)

Something tells me that these roommates have a shittacular relationship. Even with my annoying roommate, I at least did things like… tell her what I thought rather than complaining via note form.
