Presenting the winner of the creative spelling (and spacing) of the year award, spotted by Rob in the recently-painted elevator of his Brooklyn apartment building.

repestect yourself

It has a lovely lyric quality to it, no?

This could be the start of some bizarre new verse structure… Graphity Haiku.

“If you like to do graphity”?

I had no idea it was an option. Maybe the author of this note was a fan of Douglas Adams?

I thought it was some sort of weird phonetic spelling of gravity but now that I’ve read it again, I realize it’s graffiti. Yeees.

      Jun 30, 2009 at 1:57 am   rating: +2

    • #10.3   RigaToni

I, too, thought “like to do gravity” was the answer. And I thought the note writer was talking about those kids with saggy pants. But the police threat is only valid in like 2 or 3 cities that have banned saggy pants… so I read the comments for clues.

Unfortunately the note makes way more sense with “graffiti” and therefore is less fun.

My guess is the note writer hates the occupants in apartment 29, and when she walked out in the hallway the next morning and saw their door completely covered with spray paint, she pat herself on the back and immediately took the note down.

I’m guessing it’s a “No Smoking” sign, but a curious part of me hopes it’s another note written by the same guy, bitching about people in the building smoking. The smoking note isn’t written in Comic Sans, though. Nor does it feature a page number.

You guessed incorrectly. While I did read comment #12, and agreed with her sentiment about the page numbers, my comment was independent. I was referring to the presumed “No Smoking” sign above the PAN.

I think that this note is a ploy to get people to pull down their pants and wriggle around trying to write on their exposed, plump backsides while being filmed.

Just because that’s now I paid for college doesn’t mean its for everyone. Some people have mushy, flat, mashed potato asses that no one except Claw cares to see (and he certainly wouldn’t pay for it, he could just wait until his Mom is undressing for her monthly hosing off in the yard).

      How ironic.

First, you should have said …”somebody with the writing skills of a staff member of The Ohio State Lantern.” A newspaper can’t have writing skills. Only the people who actually write the paper can have writing skills .

Second, I believe e.e. cummings (cleverly or not) used lower case for his initials.

      Third, GO BUCKS!

      But the author is dead!
      Maybe he meant to say:
Re: (graffiti writing) pest[s] ect [sic]…

or he was further urging them to descend upon and defile the building like a plague of locusts might a crop of corn…Repest, repest, damn you! We need more colour around here.

Repect was notewriter (the corpse of Derrida) urging them to build up the muscles. Graphity defying graffiti- writers, muscles rippling, are hot, I’m sure.
