Exhibit b)

The first three are kind of lighthearted and taken in good fun, but that last one is just rough. I can only imagine how fucking stupid that broad felt when she saw that response.

Broad, eh? Time for a Venture Brothers quote!

Brock: No, Dean, this is Guild business, your father isn’t in any harm. Guild work is clean, professional. It’s surgical with them. In a way they’re the only organization I still respect.
Hank: And they kill clean, don’t let dames get in the way.
Brock: Honestly, Hank, where do you pick that stuff up? I never see you read.
      Dean: It’s weird, right?
Brock: It’s like he channels dead crazy people.
Hank: You think it’s a cry for help?

Any coolness or badassery these bosses/coworkers would have otherwise exuded has been completely obliterated by the fact that they’re telling people what for on the internet.

I’d say it’s still badass because these idiots are posting this crap while at work.

How you spend your time is one thing, how you spend time people pay you for is gonna bite you in the ass if you carelessly fuck it off on the internet.

I’m not saying these people shouldn’t get chewed out, because they absolutely should. Just not on the internet. Trying to be a badass on the internet automatically adds an element of douchebaggery to whatever you’re saying or doing.

Maybe so, aaa. But being responsible for employees like these is the bane of any middle manager’s existence. Being able to shitcan them in front of their friends and families is a cherished fantasy equivalent to taking a dump on your boss’s desk as a resignation.

Yeah, fuck them. They should be working (or at least pretending to work). I think it shows a little humor to burn them on facebook.

And really, if you’re bothered by someone offering a PA response, why the fuck are you on this site?

    • #2.7   aaa

      a) Calm down, man! It’s just the internet!

      b) I never said that I was bothered (Where the hell did I even say anything close to that? Why would I care if strangers on the internet are being dumbasses?), just that their douchebaggery has overwhelmed whatever awesome they may have because

      c) Everybody knows that arguing on the internet makes you a douchebag, even more so with your real name attached and

      d) Even though everybody wants people to be professional/nice/not an ass/whatever (because people don’t want to be the target of bad behavior), everybody knows that’s not going to happen, so people have created places to mock the inevitable stupidity. A person doesn’t have to accept a behavior to be amused by it. Plus,

      e) I just like the letter e.

I know this doesn’t help you with the boss who’s already been friended but it can help you avoid something similar happening again.

The way it usually works is that you have a Myspace in high school (or if you’re a child molester) and get a Facebook once you get into college. Bebo and Friendster are for weird old people. Livejournal is like Myspace; it’s generally for high schoolers and the classy-ass adults use Blogger or (if you’re really bitchin) TypePad. Tumblr is for hipsters and Twitter makes you annoying.

Although, nobody mentions that actually caring about the internet is for losers. ;D

I actually have all three of my immediate supervisors as FB friends. Of course, we usually see ourselves as “in the same boat” when something annoying comes down from the top, and I don’t usually blame them for stuff I don’t like at work (since they don’t really have much control over stupid crap to begin with). On the other hand, I do like my job… but even if I didn’t, I wouldn’t post about it in public where anyone could see it.
FB is blocked at my workplace (and my boyfriend’s). This cuts down on distractions, and also ensures that if you’re angry about something/someone, you have time to cool off before you have a chance to post it as your status.

Some of my coworkers have the duplicate “work-related” accounts – mostly because our job involves teenagers, and they want to be your FB/Myspace friend, but you don’t want them seeing some of the things people might post to your page. I can’t be bothered with this, so I just don’t let the teens be my online friends. I explain why honestly if they ask.

Then when they got canned they’d whine, “But that’s not faaaaair!” and they’d stomp off to mummy and daddy and complain about how mean everyone was…..and what’s worse is mummy and daddy would come bursting in and roar about how cruel it was their lazy, overindulged spawn got fired for laziness, dishonesty, rudeness, etc.
