Honestly, if I was a teacher and had a student of any determinate age copying students around her, I’d have her sit by herself or with other copycats until she learned her lesson.

Kids imitate. If someone important to Lilly commonly uses cursive (mom, older siblings, other family members, etc) she’d easily copy and practice it especially for her name.

And I agree that a 9 year old that can’t write that well may have a problem or possibly just a crappy school or crappy attitude abouts school.

PS “on lined paper” doesn’t mean the writing was small enough to fit between the lines

Interesting that she addressed the note twice. Maybe distracted by the copier or maybe reconsidering the relationship with her mother.

“Lilly” is the only word not written in block letters – - age appropriate.

Man, I am 27 and my handwriting is not much better than Lillys, especially the cursive. My guess is the mother taught her how to just do her name in cursive because the little girl asked. We learned cursive in third grade and I still loathe it. Such a useless waste of time. Some schools have stopped teaching it and teach typing instead. I am all for that.

I remember my little girlfriends being all about the “stop copying me” bull back in elementary school. Sometimes it was over stuff like “you are eating your lunch like me…Stop copying me!”.

i wish america and great britain would just combine their damn languages already.
i currently spell some words in american and some in british, same with my punctuation.
it is all very confusing.
and then there is the issue of my abhorrence of capital letters.
