I made an honest mistake (and acknowledged it as soon as it was pointed out to me) in a comment which was, in fact, on the mark about respecting privacy rights.

Then everyone went nuts with names and what not and it went downhill from there.

As to why a large percentage of people seem to dislike Starbucks, I believe to has to do with the perception that Starbucks don’t really sell beverages, they sell an elitist image.
Since many people don’t like snobs, they tend not to like Starbucks’ elitist image.

As for the employment factor, if there were not a Starbucks at a particular location, I suspect there’d be some other establishment located there which would also hire employees…probably at a higher wage.
