if this were a commercial activity I might change some based on chromatic feedback…but it’s not, so I write for a more select audience..me and whoever else happens to get it and get amused by it…

“who” is the correct subject of the full clause “who saved this art”, which clause is in turn the object of the preposition “to”.

You are probably being guided by the example of the correct “To whom it may concern:”, but in that usage “whom” is still not the object of “to”…
“whom” is the object of the transitive verb “may concern”, whose subject (or “the subject of which” if you prefer) is “it”, making the full clause “it may concern whom” the actual object of “to”…

put into contemporary PAN parlance, this is the reverse of something along the lines of “To whoever may give a shit:”…I hope you wouldn’t use “whomever” in that case…if you do, I’d know what you meant and so would everybody here, but anyone versed in the rules of standard English grammar would say your usage was “wrong” or at best “non-standard”.

You *could* argue that “whom” is correct, but this ain’t baseball and there’s no infield fly rule in this case…I’m very sure. No hard feelings though…it’s trickier than you realize and I’m sure I screw up the language (or play around with it) enough to make other teachers flip out… but I’m retired, having fun, and frankly, Scarlett…

Infant Tyrone… I actually believe “whom” is correct because the word is acting as an object of the preposition “to.” “To whom.” It’s tricky because without the pesky “to,” the remaining clause would obviously have to read, “who saved this art,” because “who” is always the performER of the action (the subject) and “whom” is always the performEE (the object). I think the prepositional phrase takes precedence in this case, but I’m not sure. (Since it’s not a complete sentence, you could probably argue that either “who” or “whom” is correct.)
