If the quotes were from Buddha or Confucius, if they all had to do with believing in the tenets of a religious faith, as opposed to just basic sayings, then people probably would complain the same way. Maybe not quite as strongly, true, but I personally would be just as annoyed.

When the RA starts knocking on dorm doors during dinner or study time trying to convert people you might have a point.

Until then, I'm sure all those college students can deal with or ignore a few notes.

What a bunch of wimpy little bitches getting all worked up about the RA's notes.

They are notes on a f*cking wall. Hardly the same thing as bicycle-helmet-wearing Mormon missionaries knocking on doors and trying to get you to give up booze.

People need to suck it up and grow a pair instead of getting "offended ".

You're offended? In the words of Stephen Fry, "so f*cking what?"

If they can waggle their god's penis at me, then why can't I waggle my penis at them?

Freedom of speech? You must now squeeze your chopped chicken parts into the unitard and waggle them at us. Thanks!

Dear Mr. Tyler,

If it were a Confucian or Buddhist quote it would not be referencing a monotheistic deity, the holy book writings about which, and many followers of which have a "my way or the highway" tone and attitude. Check out: "I am the way, the truth, and the life: no man comes to the Father, but by me."

Not quite the "try it before you buy it", "go ahead and try a sample before you order", buffet-style spirituality that folks here seem to have.
Maybe we have authority issues.
Maybe we also have a hair-trigger gag reflex when
presented with the taste of deep fried know-it-all-ism.

<i>Why can’t people say anything without being criticized?</i>
Because not everybody agrees with you, or me, or anybody else, and criticism is part of the Faustian bargain that comes with free speech.
Check out some of the things said back and forth in the colonies before the 1st Amendment...this site would be tepid by comparison. The 1st Amendment didn't come with a dress code or an approved word list. That's why you can say someone's "out of fucking line" and nobody here bats an eyelash. (<i>Out of order ?</i> Oh, why not ? <i>Attica! Attica!</i>)

<i>I don’t go around bashing Muslims for being associated with a religion that blows up innocent people for their own insane god.</i>
To sample the NRA, "Religions don't kill people, People do." Wacked-out, psyched-up people who claim to be Muslims, Jews, Christians, etc. have been killing innocent people for a couple of millennia minimum.
Someone posting an inspirational quote on the wall of a madrassa in Pakistan's NWFP these days is more likely than not to be trying to spread hate in spite of your statement that they are not.
Been there. Know some of them by name.
But they're people who say they're Muslims, not Islam, the way
Scott Roeder is a person who says he's a Christian, not Christianity.

Gotta go to the weekkkly witch-burning, Ciao Bella !

Reading comprehension: fail.

The point of contention, as laid out in the introduction, is that the quotes "always happened to come from the Bible". Thus, that is the scenario we are talking about.

You ask why people can't say anything without being criticized, yet you are criticizing people for expressing their dislike of having the Bible quoted at them. And in a quite unpleasant manner, also. Not very Christ-like at all.

P.S. Muslims worship the same insane god Christians do.

We have plenty of facts to indicate that the RA is a moron. Being religious makes you statistically more likely to be poor, uneducated, susceptible to persuasion, and prone to mimic without thought. I think that's pretty good evidence.

Did you ever try politely asking a churchie to stop spreading dogma in public, religiously diverse places? It doesn't work.

Yes, I think god and religion are offensive. I am a human and religion is anti-human. If you don't believe that, go read the bible. What's that? You HAVE read the bible? I doubt it.

Okay, morons of the internet, riddle me this: Suppose the quote was not from the bible. Suppose it was a quote from Confucius, or Buddha. What then? You idiots wouldn't saying shit about it. You say you're being fair. You say that the person who put this quote is out of line. You're out of fucking line. Why can't people say anything without being criticized? I don't go around bashing Muslims for being associated with a religion that blows up innocent people for their own insane god. If a person is trying to "inspire" someone with an inspirational quote, they're CLEARLY not trying to spread hate. I'm fine with spreading hate. I'm fucking filled. But this RA isn't. So bash me and this comment. But you should all know, you extremely politically polarized ass cracks, that you are just as guilty as Christians are. Except without some sort of joy, whether it comes with a strange belief or not. Hope you're satisfied with your bleak and petty existence you fucking fuckers.

Why is the RA a moron? I agree posting Biblical scripture may not be the most polite thing in a college dorm, but calling someone when we have minuscule amount of facts just seems silly.

In my opinion, the best way for this to be handled would have been for those offended to talk to the RA in person. It's pretty passive-aggressive (What a surprise on this website!) to just leave a note.

"They will walk and not faint..." This quote leaves me with the impression that Isaiah had just finished watching Nathan Lane in "The Birdcage" when he wrote this passage.
