August 13th, 2010 · 47 comments

Who knew? If you’re in the market for cemetery plots at bargain-basement prices, apparently the go-to place is…the women’s locker room at the gym. At least that’s where our submitter in East Lansing, Michigan spotted this notice (which was clearly not penned by Hemingway).

Happy “WTF?” Friday, everyone!

    That body was fucking delicious.

(“Fred! I think we’ve got an eater!” “Right, I’ll put the oven on.”)

It seems the passive-aggressive element in this note is also dead.

(Seriously, I see nothing PA in this at all, yo.)

If you would kindly take a moment and note that this is a “WTF? Friday” entry AND is tagged as “not so much passive aggressive” we can perhaps come to an agreement that you were a bit hasty in your complaint.

Someone paid nearly $2,200 for a plot for mom, who then decided to be cremated instead, “so we aren’t using this, now.” It’s being sold for less than 1/4 of its value, with that notation.

      It’s a little more A than P, if you ask me. ;)

Ah, Kat, thank you. There’s the passive aggressive.

Yes, Kat. Thank you for showing everyone just HOW MUCH you’ve gotten out of this website. Bravo!

And, I stand by my comment, as do the (at this time) 5 people who’ve thumbs-upped me! So there! IN YO FACE!

The P-A is in the “now” as, after paying probably upwards of $1500 for their mom’s plot years ago (a plot now valued at $2195), mom decides at this late date to be cremated. Talk about pissing on a real estate investment coup?

If anything causes an immediate impulse toward matricide, that would be it.

Also P-A is that the purchaser will have to spend eternity interred next to the seller’s SOB of a dad!

      You’re quite welcome.
(I figured since you missed the PA today, I’d throw some your way. I, too, often suffer from PA withdrawal. )

So, Silence, all of the people who stood by Hitler made him right just because people agreed with him?

I bow to your superior logic. In our faces indeed. :oops:Just so you know, I’ve gotten scads of thumbs-up making arguments here I don’t believe in just to play Devil’s Advocate for a while.
You’d be surprised how many people agree with dumb shit.

The passive-aggressive tone I got from it was, “Since she couldn’t just get buried like we’d already planned and had to go off and have herself cremated, now we’re stuck with the plot without any dead body to put in it.” I think the improper punctuation only added to the emphasis in “so we aren’t using this, now.”

Why not just bury her? To dead people, interment feels a lot like incineration.

Sell it? I think anyone that knows anything about real property knows renting it out is a much better option. That way, it’s still available for when they need it later.

You laugh, but in Hong Kong the lack of space means plots are rented. After several years, you’re dug up and either reburied outside the country or cremated.

Who did they hire..the Kingsford Funeral and BBQ Home?

Mourner: “Nice repast. That brisket tasted of mesquite.”

If anyone has any info about the whereabouts of the show Ella

where she where she changed the lyrics in her hit song to
      A tisket a tasket
      a little yellow casket…

please drop a note by my lilypad sometime before I croak.

I’d prefer it to Shallowdale. That just makes me think that the dead will more easily rise. Bury ‘em deep. Make ‘em work for zombiehood.

My friend’s mother once made a couple of grand selling a cemetery plot after she changed her mind about where she’d like to be buried. She got a taste for the easy cash and now does a brisk business in cemetery plot trading. All very discreetly of course.
