The note was bitchy. But so is parking in front of someone else’s house consistently, whether it’s just your motorcycle or your car. I live in Columbus and there are some neighborhoods that are solely street parking and since you can’t park the wrong way on a street, maybe someone was parking on the other side because that was the way they came home, and they didn’t want to turn around. But then that took another resident’s spot, and it just made it a pain in the ass for everyone.

I hate it more the people who will park in front of my house and be about 6 inches from my mailbox. It’s too close for the mailtruck to be able to turn and get in and put mail in, so they will just skip our house, which sucks. After several of those days, I was ready to leave a PAN

So its fine to personally attack people by putting on “virtual balls” because they say something against popular opinion… ok… I’m still going to stand by my previous “tellin’ like it is” statement.

Sorry, bullwinkle, this sounds exactly appropriate for PAN to me. becca sided with the note-writer (against popular opinion / logic) whined about it, and receive jibes in exchange. Sounds pretty typical. The squabbling gets ugly when kids are brought into it because for every person who whines they should get special dispensation for having crotch-fruit there’s always someone out there who thinks they themselves should get an award for *not* breeding. That’s the way it goes. We got all kinds here.

becca could have written something along the lines of ‘here are my impediments [x,y,z] and I realize others have them [a,b,c] too but it still sucks’ without seeming entitled but she didn’t. Calling people ‘sucky’ for doing something which is not even knowingly inconsiderate is snarky and deserving of a snarky reply.

I agree with Kate. I think people are enjoying the challenge of kind of being an ass while trying to somehow justify it as just “telling it like it is”… often times they are one in the same. I’ve been guilty of it. Regardless, doesn’t this go against PAN community guidelines?

OK, what is everyone’s beef with Becca? She had a tiny whinge, which we all do at times, and everyone accused her of all sorts of personally and physical defects.
Yes it does suck when people park outside your house and it means you have to walk. I understand what Becca is saying. She didn’t mean that no one should ever park outside her house or that she was going to leave PA notes for people who do.

Everyone has pet peeves and will air them sometimes. I think you should all be ashamed of yourselves in the way you have acted to someone you don’t know and have never met. I’m sure you wouldn’t speak like that to her face.

Shame on you all.

In 16.23 I just pointed out something as a possible explanation for the fix you found yourself in.
Re-read it…it was not an attack on you, even if I don’t find myself particularly sympathetic to your parking situation.
You might also note that I had your back up there in this thread before you smart-mouth me.

becca, I don’t have any issue with you being irritated at not getting a close spot. Life is full of irritating things and that is one of them. But you closed your initial observation with “Sucky people”, and that attitude is what irritated me. You seem to think people are deliberately parking in front of you house, with full knowledge of your circumstances, just to make you suffer. I’m thinking they’re just looking for a semi-close spot to their house, just like you.

I have been trying to equate the two-kids-and-other-stuff transfer problem to the puzzle of getting a fox, a hen, and a bag of grain across the river in a boat that only fits one animal. I think I’ve figured it out; but the solution requires you to modify a backpack.

(a) Carry your infant in his carrier, along with your empty modified backpack, up the stairs, while holding your two-year-old’s hand.

(b) At the top of the stairs, take your infant out of the carrier and place him into the modified backpack, which lets his legs hang out two little holes in the bottom, and his head just barely peek out of the top.

(d) At the car, ask your two-year-old to curl up into a semi-fetal position, on his back.

(e) Place all your other junk on you two-year-old’s belly, and then pick him up in your arms like he’s a wicker basket.

(f) Climb back up the stairs to your place, and enjoy- Wait, don’t forget to remove your infant from the backpack…

Oh, yeah, no problem.
I’ll ride my bike to HEB in 103 degree weather to buy my groceries.
If I’m lucky enough to survive the not-at-all-bike friendly roads, and all the people texting while driving, and don’t get heat stroke, I can watch all my food rot within 12 hours.
That’ll work.

Can we just close response #16 altogether? There’s no need to bash someone about their opinion as unpopular as it may be to some of you. It’s pointless to keep egging each other on.

The bottom line about parking is this: If it’s not your driveway and it doesn’t have a handicapped sign, it’s fair game. Everyone is debating the merit of the note which is just an endless back and forth. The POINT of this site is that someone was douchey enough to write the note in the first place.

Holy crap, so I get a little irritated when someone takes the “usuall spot”. Do I EVER leave a note or say anything to the person parking there? No. Do the kids ever hear about it? No. I was simply stating that it annoys me. Thats it. Who cares!
Canthz- The post was about the spot I park in. It was a story about me. Get over it.
Do I think I deserve that spot? No.
Sometimes I just wish one thing in the last year and half to go easy for me. So I have a little pity party for myself now and then, after thats over, I get over it and realize that there are people who have it a lot worse than I do. That is all this was about. I (yup I USED IIIIIIII) don’t really care if you have a problem with it. Because you don’t know me, so I don’t care about your opinion.
