It's not OCD you guys, it' just old people don't like change- EVER. Even when they die they're only uphappy about it because it changes their routine. Don't think they're not trying to still sit down to dinner at 5 when all the other angels are just getting off work.

Once an old person has done something similar for a week (even if it's not every day) then it becomes routine and woe-be-tide anyone who tries to change that. Parking there since 2002 would in her mind mean she practically owns that space.

Perhaps she forgets her parking spot otherwise?

I park in the same spot at work and so does my friend. We are also the only two people that park where we are supposed to and not in customer parking as well.

I get annoyed if someone is in my spot (which has only happened maybe twice), I like familiarity.

I wonder how many days he parked there to deserve a note?

RP, we're basically all good. I just disagreed with the perception that smokers across the business world get to leave whenever to smoke when that's not the case.
I'm assuming you accept the fact that, even though there may be exceptions at some smaller businesses, the vast majority of employers enforce written break-time policies which apply to all employees equally.
Not saying that if you work at a corner laundromat or something this would apply, but most if not all major corporations have policies in place to cover this issue.

Farticus, I have no "vendetta" (please look the word up before using it next time, it doesn't mean what you think it means...but I'll stick with it ) against retail employees...just liars, those who would overly exaggerate facts, people who contradict themselves and idiots who cannot see what is right in front of their faces.

<i>...smokers do get away with taking as many smoke breaks as they want."</i>

I'm just pointing out that where it may happen it's the exception, not the rule.
I wish it were the rule, but it isn't.

Three places of employment (and I don't know what type of employment) is a very small sample to work from.
I'm an office worker. Smokers and non-smokers all have to log out and log into our system when we leave for breaks and when we come back...there are no extra break times that smokers get that non-smokers don't.
Everyone gets two 15 minute breaks and a lunch break. There are no additional "smoking breaks" given or allowed.
Been like that since the late 1980s or early 1990s.
That's all I'm saying. ;-)

Somehow, non-smokers have convinced themselves that smokers come and go as they please, but that has not been the case in my experience. Smokers don't get as many breaks as they want in my world. We get the same number as non-smokers...and haven't asked for more.

<i>As a smoker, I’d love to agree with you</i>

Agree with me about what? You said you've never heard of a place where the smokers get away with taking extra breaks. I stated that it happened at two of the places I've worked.

There's nothing to agree or disagree with here. I'm not arguing that it happens where you work or that it happens everywhere or even that it happens all that often. I'm just pointing out that there are places where it does happen.

<i>“I was not taking a parking space from a customer because by then the parking lot was empty with plenty of spaces <b>right in front</b>.”

"I never got a “Front” space which to me means less than 5 spaces from the front."</i>

So, there's at least 10 spaces deep of safety zone (because that's where you say you parked...10 spaces back). So we'll say 20 spaces deep to the very back.
To have 200 spaces...hell, let's say 400, you still only have 20 rows across.
Parking must go parallel to the shopping center, not perpendicular, to accommodate the other businesses in the center.
Again, we all know how shopping centers are laid out.

Some large shopping center, huh? Large enough to have a parking lot big enough to have an area which one could describe as "no-man's land", right?

Get off it.

Please, Lord, shut her up before she contradicts herself again!

Because the security guards were only on duty to watch for UFOs.
They used to spot at least three a night, and if one landed, they had to take it to the nearest Air Force base. They were strictly prohibited from looking after the safety of the center's employees...who had to walk two miles in the dark to their cars all by themselves because no one had sense enough to know it was unsafe to do so because of all of the rapists and purse-snatchers in that crappy area.

See? I can make up crap on the fly too. ;-)

WAIT WAIT WAIT. There exist shopping center employees who LISTEN to the parking rules? Your center must have had some vigilant security guards to enforce the parking lot regulations - so why couldn't they walk you to your car?

And just how is 35 to 50 car-widths back in no-man's land again? We're talking less than 50 or 60 yards.

And, quite frankly, I can't imagine a store manager who would not let your husband walk you to your car for what would take like 3 minutes. Hell, he'd probably encourage that and ask your husband to collect shopping carts on his way back, killing two birds with one stone!

You fail.

Heck, your husband thought an earlier note referred to the TV show "House" instead of "household items". We're supposed to rely on his "guesstimations"?

You are both failures.

I use a lot of hyperbole in my speech so you know, when I say 200 I mean like 30 to 50. Still that is a long way to walk in the dark, by yourself, late at night, with no one around to help you. There is no arguing that. The managers were dicks plain and simple to try to act like they owned the entire parking lot and to not care if something happened to me.
Heck I should drive back to that place and count the damn spaces myself from front to back. Now I am actually really curious the exact count.......not just spaces either. There were some driving lanes that intersected through the parking lot as well that I also had to walk through to the very back. My husband worked there too and he is better at guesstimations. I will have to ask him how many he thought it was. He agreed with me about it not being safe for me to walk that far by myself at night. If he was there they would not even let him walk me out unless his break time happened to come at the exact time I got off which never happened.
