The smell inside a trash can where bagged dog poo has been marinating unventilated is *amazing*. My aunt keeps a dedicated trash can outside and then takes that bag to the big bin at the last minute, to cut down on the gag-factor.

:^| Unbelievable. I can’t even fully wrap my head around that. Throwing one’s dog’s shit into the neighbor’s yard?!! Why would that even enter into your mental options? You’ve already got the poo scooped/shoveled off the ground, it is less of a motion to put it in your bin or wheelbarrow, or whatever… it is more effort to toss it over a fence… WTF?! Really!!? I just… eeep… ack… gagk…

W…..T…..F….? Tree branch? They make a Poop Tree?

I honestly hadn’t realized previously that leaving a poop bag in the nearest street-side garbage can was a despised thing, and I won’t again. (To be fair, it is almost never hot here and I doubt it has ever hit 3 digits without the assistance of a plasma torch. And we don’t go for leisurely walks when it is hot anyhow, so the poo stays in the dogs’ yard in hot weather anyhow.) So thank you for that education.

However, leaving poop bags in a tree? A tree outside an off-leash park. In a tree. Poop.

I am completely befuddled.

I own a dog. I walk my dog every night. I make sure I pick up my dog’s poop and throw it away when I get home. Nothing annoys me more than several of my neighbors that don’t pick up THEIR dog’s poop. As far as throwing it in someone’s garbage? I’ve never done that, but I can’t say I’d really care (if the poop is in a bag and sealed up) if someone threw it in my garbage. At least it’s picked up.

Maybe this is one of those opinions which is very dependent on where you live. I’m in a midtown suburban area in a midsized Southern city. I’d be so damn thrilled if my neighbors actually picked up their dog’s crap that it wouldn’t even occur to me to be “disgusted” that someone put the bag in my can.

I’d appreciate it if you, as a dog owner, throw your poop away in your own garbage can. You chose to have a dog, not me. I do not want to take responsibility for your life choices.
