I think she took guilt lessons from my Jewish mother.

I don’t know why she’s complaining! I’d give anything to have my mother accept the fact that I’m not a Christian!
Back when we were still talking to each other, she still tried to get me to go to church with her. Saying things like “I’ll be so lonely without you!” As if we’re the only two people who go there

Never end a sentence with a preposition, dear.
And sit up straight. I’ll never have grandchildren if you end up a hunchback.

JC would probably do the same thing. Take a tour of a fancified church, maybe take a picture of two, and then go outside to hang out with his friends.
I wonder if Mary would give him a hard time about not going to church…

I always think it’s a miracle when someone can take great pictures while asleep, and let’s face it, the Recessional is really just a wake-up call…it’s hard to stay awake in church.

I still haven’t told my parents and I’m 44. Living in another state helps.

One can’t help but wonder if there’s a PAN encoded in, say, Michaelangelo’s decoration on the ceiling of the basilica in St. Peter’s, Rome.

This makes me so glad that my mother thinks church is the worst way to spend a Sunday.

That sounds just like my father-in-law. He has perfected guilt to a fine science.

My mom still tries to get me to pray even after I told her There is no point in it since there is no super being just perverted priest praying on the alter boys and acting as if some god told them it was alright. So take that guilt and use to to better yourself not mine. I have issues okay.

The Cathedral Basillica in STL is beautiful and famous for its mosaics. It’s a frequent stop for tourists of any faith.

The Cathedral Basilica is indeed absolutely amazing. I’ve also been to a Mass there and it was also beautiful. They’ve also got some gorgeous rosaries for sale in their gift shop and a museum telling about the church and how they did the mosaic works. I first went there when I was a teenager on a field trip and just remember being stunned at how beautiful it was.

I live in St. Louis and, when my Catholic mother comes to visit, I always take her here for mass so that I can kill time looking at the pretty. She’s a recent convert and can only blame herself for not building a time machine and raising me Catholic.

I like how the Mom’s PA guilt serves to imply that the mere state of being in a church will somehow offer some spiritual sanctification to her daughter.
Holiness as imbued by architectural osmosis. I love it.
