I like how the Mom's PA guilt serves to imply that the mere state of being in a church will somehow offer some spiritual sanctification to her daughter.

Holiness as imbued by architectural osmosis. I love it.

I live in St. Louis and, when my Catholic mother comes to visit, I always take her here for mass so that I can kill time looking at the pretty. She's a recent convert and can only blame herself for not building a time machine and raising me Catholic.

The Cathedral Basilica is indeed absolutely amazing. I've also been to a Mass there and it was also beautiful. They've also got some gorgeous rosaries for sale in their gift shop and a museum telling about the church and how they did the mosaic works. I first went there when I was a teenager on a field trip and just remember being stunned at how beautiful it was.

The Cathedral Basillica in STL is beautiful and famous for its mosaics. It's a frequent stop for tourists of any faith.

My mom still tries to get me to pray even after I told her There is no point in it since there is no super being just perverted priest praying on the alter boys and acting as if some god told them it was alright. So take that guilt and use to to better yourself not mine. I have issues okay.
