Umm, I have done something similar in my old neighborhood that was gate because I am coming from the driver’s right and they would blast through making a left turn, assuming I was going to the gate but actually I would drive straight to go to my friends house to pick her up. Many a times I almost got killed just in my neighborhood…

Eh,run on sentence,run on driver.

What, Nun? She put three periods at the end so we could insert them wherever we want to.

If it’s that loud, maybe it’s a blessing Mr. Blue Subaru doesn’t stop.
Dec 7, 2011 at 9:23 pm rating: 27
Though I admire the note-writer’s attention to detail in using blue for highlighting purposes, if the driver doesn’t pay attention to a red octagon why would he heed scrawls on cardboard?
Dec 7, 2011 at 10:07 pm rating: 50
I’m not old OR cranky, but I can certainly sympathize with the writer of the sign.
Dec 7, 2011 at 10:22 pm rating: 53
I think anyone who blasts their music so loud that I can feel it in my ribs as they go by is a JACKASS. I have always thought that, so I don’t think it is an “old people” thing.
Dec 7, 2011 at 10:43 pm rating: 45
The very loudest boom cars actually make me queasy. Is that an inner ear thing?
Dec 7, 2011 at 11:03 pm rating: 12
I’m 21 and I hate it when people play music too loud. There’s just no need for it!
Dec 9, 2011 at 7:24 am rating: 3
Gramps needs to take it up a notch and invest in some road spikes.

I suppose they found spraying him with their garden hose as they watered their prize roses to be ineffective.

Oh lol, I love this.
Dec 7, 2011 at 11:02 pm rating: 3
If dude wants to have his music up loud that’s his choice. I have subs in my truck and when a person complains about it, I turn it up louder. But, at night I do turn the bass down when in the neighborhood and as far as the stop sign I respect that.
Dec 7, 2011 at 11:11 pm rating: 9
Yeah, yeah, and you have a tiny dick. I hope you die in a speaker-related explosion.
You need to realize that your “subs” cause a lot of people actual pain, regardless of the time of day or night. It’s a sharp, stabbing pain just below the eardrum, in the bones surrounding it. It causes nausea, dizziness, and — in those like me who are prone to such things — debilitating migraine.
Chances are very high that you will be deaf, soon, anyway. Enjoy it while you can…at home. With headphones.
Dec 8, 2011 at 12:14 am rating: 121
You have lost sight of the fact that your rights end where others’ rights begin.
If your enjoyment of loud noise prevents someone else from enjoying a lack of loud noise, the appropriate response is to compromise, not to escalate. Turning your speakers louder in response to a request to turn them down is not only childish but it’s also flat out bullying.
We all share this world, DCVR. Play nice.

If my neighbours are going to butcher “Sweet Caroline” for hours on repeat karaoke style on a nightly basis then they can have the doof doof of the car with the windows down when I arrive. Hell half o my neighbourhood is noisy and doesn’t give a f**k.
Dec 8, 2011 at 2:46 am rating: 6
Hmm. if it looks like a troll and smells like a trolls and writes like a troll then if probably is a troll.
However in this case it’s not a very good troll as the post isn’t biased enough to really bring out the hatred in others.
And yes hes does have a very small penis.
Dec 8, 2011 at 3:20 am rating: 22
Elizabeth, if half your neighborhood is noisy (and clearly you are a part of that half), then respect the other half. Once your radio is up loud enough for you to hear it, there’s really no need to elevate it further. If you have to blast it to hear it, get your ears checked. We don’t want to hear it, and we shouldn’t have to. That goes for you too, DCVR.
Dec 8, 2011 at 10:08 am rating: 15
You’re an idiot.
The reason people should have their music down to where only they can hear it is not only because not everyone wants to listen to the crap you call music, but also because you can’t hear sirens. Thanks for blocking that ambulance or firetruck, putz, all because you’re too selfish to hear them. Now someone will die because of you.
Dec 8, 2011 at 11:48 am rating: 16
Don’t worry. I’ll take the baffles out of the pipes in my Harley and I’ll idle outside his house for a while. I bet he’ll complain when it isn’t his bass that is rattling windows.
(FWIW, with baffles my bike is loud but under legal decible limits. That noise has paid off, too. Since I replaced the stock pipes, I haven’t been run off the road by a mom in a minivan. It’s amazing what it takes for a driver to LOOK before merging.)
Dec 8, 2011 at 12:22 pm rating: 4
Seriously, this is a safety issue, not only with sirens. Driving isn’t merely a visual thing, it is imperative that you have complete awareness of all of your senses.
Dec 8, 2011 at 5:27 pm rating: 8
I don’t get why NOBODY appreciates Blue Subaru’s makeshift-siren attempts to at least warn people that he’ll be blowing trough the stop sign without so much as easing up on the accelerator!
I mean, he could buy a Prius, and just glide through there all silent‑but‑deadly. But does he? NO! Because he cares.
Dec 9, 2011 at 7:09 pm rating: 14
I laughed my way through this post, but I have to say, I have often wondered if the guy that is three cars away from me is deaf to play his shit so loud that it is drowning out what ever I am listening to.

….and stay off of my lawn!!
Dec 8, 2011 at 1:11 am rating: 21
I have a friend who has committed to being old with me. We are going to sit in our robes & slippers on the front porch, drinking gin out of coffee cups, petting out 100 cats, watching the kids walk by to and from school just waiting for the chance to yell “Get off my lawn you young punks!”
Ahhh- I love planning for retirement!
Dec 8, 2011 at 10:05 am rating: 25
Can I join you, Zsa? I can bring my own cats and gin.
Dec 8, 2011 at 12:23 pm rating: 8
Awesome! I’ll tell my friend we are now going to have a home for the old and cranky. bylaws:
All pets are allowed but you must contribute at least 3 to the household at any one time.
All liquors are allowed but gin is preferred.
Front porch and hot tub are clothing optional – that will REALLY freak out the young punks.
Guns are allowed but ammo is not – can’t have any pesky murder raps upsetting the status quo.
Come one, come all!!!

I so am.

I thought that stop signs with the white border around them were optional….
Dec 8, 2011 at 9:49 am rating: 5
And every other Tuesday you can ignore them all together.
Dec 8, 2011 at 10:02 am rating: 5
No. They’re ALL compulsory. There’s a reason for them.

Another Robin from Durango
I LOVE it!!! Although I’m not the Robyn from Durango that posted this, I completely agree!!! I’m also not old & cranky…the bigger issue is STOPPING for the damn sign! But, I also hate FEELING other people’s stereos blasting away…isn’t that noise pollution? However, it’s their own hearing loss they’re causing. They’ll just have to deal with hearing aids early in life. ;o)
Dec 8, 2011 at 11:33 am rating: 3
No, they’ll never get hearing aids. They’ll just make you repeat everything 3-4 times because they can’t hear you.
Dec 18, 2011 at 7:57 pm rating: 1
I’ve often thought about doing this, but addressing it to bike riders. I don’t know what it is with them but they never stop. Even when there’s cars crossing the intersection. I’ve even seen them running red lights.
Last I heard in California it’s a $350 ticket for a bike rider caught running a stop sign. But you’d think that the risk of getting hit by a car would be enough to deter them.
Dec 8, 2011 at 11:52 am rating: 3
Perhaps pouring a lot of red paint mixed with chocolate syrup all over the intersection would get their attention?
Dec 8, 2011 at 2:41 pm rating: 2
THANK YOU!!! I am so over bicyclists who don’t feel as though they have to follow the rules of the road, but get pissed when they feel drivers don’t respect them enough. Safe is safe, but you don’t get to run a red light because you are on a bike.

I live in Colorado and I think this is glorious. I want to know where it is so I can take a picture standing next to it, shaking my fist.

Boom stereos that are that powerful are nothing less than sonic assault. This air pollution is yet another way for those whose insecurities are so extreme, to get some notice. I am a certified volunteer first responder, and I’ve sworn not to assist anyone with a mega-bass system, or fart tube or Flowmaster modified exhausts.
They need to be culled from the gene pool.

” I am a certified volunteer first responder, and I’ve sworn not to assist anyone with a mega-bass system, or fart tube or Flowmaster modified exhausts.”
That seems extreme…

Am I the only one who wants the font used to make this sign? Someone please create bluesubaru.ttf

Half the people in Durango drive Subarus. We need more information. What kind of music? Is it KSUT? KDUR?
Dec 13, 2011 at 9:03 pm rating: 1
I sent this pic to my b/f – he lives out of state, drives a blue Subaru, and has been known to miss the occasional stop sign……. but good news. His stereo doesn’t work.
