I wonder if family owned and operated businesses have a different line they use, in case someone’s mother does actually work there. Or does the mother actually clean up the place, making such notes unnecessary?

Well, as sexist as it may seem, there is some truth to it. I can guarantee you that if you surveyed every household in America, women would make up the majority of “cleaners.” There’s more money to be made by advertising to the larger audience, but rest assured that there are some new commercials targeted at men. Gender roles are slowly but surely becoming more blurred.

And let’s not forget the commercials where women represent dirt and mud who are ecstatic at being “picked-up” after being rejected for so long. Way to target the market.

I had to research the history of Lysol. Holy cow. Sure enough… was marketed as a douche! Also used by alcoholics for its alcohol content. My teeth are grinding together and I can’t stop it. AAAARRRGGGH!
