Fat's not a carb, and if the recipe doesn't call for a jillion cups of sugar, the carbs /starch would mostly be in the graham cracker crust and blueberries. Basically a low carb cheesecake could be achieved by eating a stick of cream cheese covered in syrup.

Didn't any of you guys/gals read about the new study conducted by an unspecified major university? Anything can be low carb if you just *believe* hard enough. Jean is obviously a believer.

What, facts? I rather like them. Using facts instead of blather to make a point does make me feel better, in fact. Thanks for noticing.

For me it's the blueberries.

I love cheesecake but I cannot stand fruit toppings, especially ones in heavy syrup like that. (Now if it was a sprinkling of fresh blueberries that might be a different story, depending on how I'm feeling today.)

For me cheesecake should either be plain or topped with chocolate of some form. Either syrup, fudge, chocolate chips, etc.

I'd also like to say you really haven't had cheesecake until you've had a freshly made Junior's Cheesecake.

Luckily for me, while I live in California, I bought their cheesecake cookbook. So while I can order one and have it shipped out, I can also make one according to their recipe which is almost as good as having the real thing. (And cheaper too since I don't have to pay S&H from New York to California.)

Look up nutrition stats for "typical" or "average" blueberry cheesecake. Without knowing the exact recipe used, it's impossible to determine these particular nutitional values, but it is reasonable to assume it is likely to be close to "typical".

Here's one from Livestrong:
One 6.6-oz. slice of blueberry cheesecake has approximately 475 calories, 27 g fat, 130 mg cholesterol, 315 mg sodium, 52 g carbohydrates and 7 g protein.

I'm not sur how 52g of carbohydrates could ever be defined as "low carb". Please continue posturing about your "fad diet" and "eating disorder".

Jean,
Fat, sugar and starch are the preponderance of ingredients in any cheesecake worth eating. In what alternative view of chemistry are these not defined as carbohydrates? Name calling is only tolerated here if your position has technical merit.

Guess you have never had a yummy sweet 'potato' pie. It isn't made of Idaho taters. In fact no potatoes are harmed in the making of this delicious culinary treat. A YAM is not a potato it is just called one by the uninformed.

Expand your horizons. Damn now I want to go home and make one.
