Seriously. Had a roommate that did the same thing, which was especially infuriating considering they were all MY dishes, utensils, etc. When I confronted her, she actually tried to tell me that her time was more important than mine.

My boyfriend’s college roommate wouldn’t take his turn doing the dishes, even tho he dirtied the majority of them. After a few days we put the disgusting dirty dishes in his bed and pulled the sheets up over them.

Cameron, if they keep being disgusting slobs, next time put all of the dirty dishes in the trash (or wash them and drop them at a charity shop, if you’re the type). We did this at my work once and it solved the problem nicely.

Hmm…look closely at this room. There is only one chair that is usable. The rest would have people’s legs pinned against the table. To satisfy the disgruntled room-mate, I would declare the tables and chairs as a designated dumping ground. There. Problem solved.

Just to note: From the sounds of things, this is a dorm hall rather than roomates as such–people either 1 or 2 to a room, but with shared bathroom, shared kitchen, and shared lounge space (the last seen in the picture)–what we’re seeing is the accumulated junk of perhaps a dozen or more people, *none* of which were considerate enough to leave the space clean for others…

While this may have been a passive-aggressive note, the action was reasonable. Why shouldn’t the roommate move junk left behind by inconsiderate people, especially when it prevents him from using shared amenities? When people share a space but leave a mess behind for others, they are being rude, irresponsible, and thoughtless. When you leave a mess and expect someone else to “crack” and clean it up for you, it is like saying “My time and energy is more valuable than my roommates’, so one of them should be cleaning, not me. I deserve to have other people clean, even though I made part of this mess. I am entitled to have other people clean up after me.”

I realize that it’s pretty normal for this stuff to happen between college roommates, as part of the process of becoming an adult. However, Jocelyn, my opinion is that you’ve exposed your own rudeness here, not that of your roommate. Learn how to clean #$%^ up.

Those should’ve been tossed into the beds of the roomies those items belong to.

Now they’ll likely sit there on that table, if they’d been put into the beds the roomies would have at LEAST had to move them somewhere else in their room unless they wanted a really unpleasant, lumpy sleeping experience.
