Writes our submitter, Iris: “East London’s Brick Lane is the city’s hipster epicenter. A nearby pub had clearly had enough of being flooded by ironic facial hair and cardigans.”

The sign says WARNING!, but what are the ramifications of not being accompanied by a responsible adult? Public flogging? Tar and feathers? Hard labor? And who makes the judgement call as to who is deemed to be responsible? Sorry, empty threats and unclear signage are huge pet peeves of mine.

Speaking as one who is most definitely not a hipster, I find this hysterical.

Opening a NEW pub on Brick Lane and complaining about “hipsters” (in 2012) is like opening a tapas bar in Canary Wharf and moaning about their being too many “suits”.
Something incredibly lame about a company affecting some slightly played out outrage and pretending to have an issue with the very people they’ve set up a shop to sell things to.
Also I don’t see all that many hipsters on Brick Lane these days, spend most of the time their avoiding getting punched by men in deep v t-shirts who fight with bouncers and dodging vomiting, pissed up Australians.

Total Catch 22. If hipsters knew any actual adults, they’d probably tell them to stop acting/dressing/hipstering that way. They’re gonna lose mad business!!!

Because getting catty about hipsters definitely doesn’t make you seem like a child. Right.

Telling hipsters off while in their territory isn’t a smart idea… One time while playing a show in Portland Oregon the bassist wore a shirt that said FUCK HIPSTERS and the bar cleared right out.

Am I the only one that’s kinda confused about this whole hipster bashing fad? It seems to mostly consist of “Go Away” signs directed at some vaguely defined group. I never even heard of hipsters until people started hating them. Maybe I’m the first person to not understand, so I guess that makes me a hipster myself?

It’s a BrewDog pub! For those of you who aren’t aware, BrewDog is THE most hipster of any beer, ever. I mean, just look at this promotional video by them: http://vimeo.com/34133177
The BrewDog in Mancheter is staffed entrirely by people with ironic facial hair. So a bar selling exclusively hipster beer in an especially hipster area is mocking hipsters? I think my brain might implode.

Why am I not surprised that this is attributed to a BrewDog pub? Those guys delight in winding people up.

O, really?
What can possibly be ironic about a moustache?
“You keep using that word. I do not think it means what you think it means.”

I note I’m not the first one to notice this, but BrewDog is a very hipster place. I mean, REALLY hipster. All obscurely-named IPAs and herbal cola. Is this some kind of self-referencing super-irony or have they failed to notice their own hipsterosity? Easier to spot someone else’s goatee than your own, I suppose.

I know people who were “hipster” in the 90s, though nobody called them that. It’s who they really were, and it was fine.
But when you select an alternate template for how to act, dress, eat, etc, and then declare yourself an “individual” for acting like other people who you find cool, I find it annoying.
Most groups have the superficial hangers on that end up defining the groups. The v-neck tees for the Jersey Shore type, the pseudo-hipsters who listen to exactly what they read is cool/uncool, Juggallos, (and I hate living in a world where I know what the hell a Juggalo is).
It’s easy to hate these superficial losers, no matter what subgroup they cling to in an effort to be themselves.
