We’ve got to hold on to what we’ve got

Bethany in California says she saw this sign hanging from a house on her street. “I don’t know the person who wrote it, but I made my husband stop in the middle of the street so I could take a picture.”

To the little piece of CRAP who stole my iPOD: Because you would rather steal as opposed to buying your own (GOD FORBID), I now have to download every single Bon Jovi song again!!! REPENT FOR THIS IS BLASPHEMY!

Hey, at least Bon Jovi has actual musical talent. Now had it been Justin Beiber….

$10 says the songs were ripped from one of those peer to peer sharing apps instead of actually being purchased.

lol at bon jovi having musical talent.
JB and BJ were both pop musicians that got popular because tween girls had a crush on the singer.

Bon got discovered before autotune when you had to have at least a little bit of musical talent to get a contract.

Justin is post-autotune, an era where you don’t have to actually be able to sing, just look good as you lip sync.

Then by your logic, Adele can’t sing because she got big post-autotune. I’m not saying Bieber is an amazing singer, just that he and Jon Bon Jovi are not very different either in terms of musical ability or in terms of why they are/were successful.

Does it matter? Theft is theft.

But since we’re debating it…… Bon Jovi is an 80s singer, which automatically makes him better. Suck it, millenials.

I don’t think you folks know how autotune works. It doesn’t take a person who can’t carry a tune and make their voice better and on key. In fact, in order to get autotune to “work,” you actually have to sing in a specific, unusual way. IT’s actually a tricky thing to use.

Redhead, check out the Bed Intruder song. They weren’t even singing, and yet autotune was used to make them sound like they were.

You’ve obviously never seen Bon Jovi live, his album tracks are heavily altered. Before the existence of autotune it just took more manhours, and more skill.

I find myself in the very bizarre situation of defending Bieber. I’m absolutely not a fan BUT he got discovered by posting videos of himself singing on YouTube, which became massive. Not much chance of auto-tune going on there…

The only reason that Bon Jovi is considered better is because of the nostalgia effect. They’re both pretty terrible.

I think the sign is missing a comma. “Repent, for this is blasphemy.” Otherwise, it’s a lovely sign. The neighbors must be thrilled.

It looks like there’s some sort of comic pinned right by the door. Something about comfort? It’s partially covered up, but it’s definitely there, and now it’s driving me crazy.

It says “Ring Bell for Service and Comfort” and has a woman serving a man with a tray while he sits smoking his pipe and reading the paper. I didn’t know they had iPods in the 50s.

Okay, I’m going to have to make an effort to take a picture of a house in my boyfriend’s neighborhood. The guy has painted rants against the government and police — onto huge sheets that he’s hung on his garage, fence, etc. There are three, currently, I think. In the winter, he hung Christmas lights around his “signs.”

That reminds me of a crazy guy from a town that neighbors my hometown. He lives in what used to be his business. He has no ownership rights anymore, but he has trouble accepting that. The building is abandoned and he’s covered it in anti-government signs and signs declaring the judge a brown-eyed devil. Whenever he crosses the line and the cops show up, he throws buckets of urine and feces at them. I get a little chill every time I drive by that place. I would love to get some photos because it’s so elaborate, but I’m afraid if I stop yellow raindrops will fall on my head.

Does he just save up all his waste so that he has some conveniently to hand if cops show up? Or does he use a normal toilet most of the time and when he thinks cops are going to be called, go shit in a bucket so he has some fresh to throw at them?

I love how much thought you put into that, Amelia! : )

I don’t have a camera, so I’ll have to go out there with my ipad to take pics of this guy’s property. The rant starts out with “We the people….”

I’m pretty sure there is no running water there, since he’s a squatter. I think the buckets ARE his toilets.

Um, I’d be careful of a guy like that. There was one in Costa Mesa, CA who did that sort of thing, including trying to get his neighbors to sign petitions to “get the government to stop watching” him. He blew himself up recently with pipe bombs.

If there aren't any toilets, I certainly HOPE he's a squatter; otherwise he's got some really nasty, bespattered shoes.

Sorry, Elf, I just don’t think of it when I”m driving by!

Last night, I looked at the property (a corner lot at a stoplight, so he gets plenty of attention) and noticed he’d taken down two signs, I think, but two big ones are still there. I wonder what his neighbors must think. My boyfriend said he heard that the guy got hit by a police car (as a pedestrian) and lost his lawsuit against the city to pay for his injuries. Who knows what the real story is.
