Trash talk

October 8th, 2013 · 17 comments

Our submitter in Chicago says that there a used to be a trash can near the front door of her apartment building, but because it was always overwhelming with doggie poop bags and other smelly trash, she wasn’t sad to see it go. Apparently, some of her neighbors are still in denial.

Attn: In case you haven't notice, there is NO trashcan in this space any more. Please be kind and take your petty trash out 5 steps to the dumpster, instead of leaving it here for someone else to clean up. THANKS. —a resident who throws their trash in its proper place FUCK YOU! WHERE'S THE FUCKING TRASH CAN? -PASSIVE AGGRESSIVE RESIDENT

related: I don’t want to touch the bathroom door handle, so I’m just going to toss my paper towel on the floor

That’s a win if I’ve ever seen one.

I was in a Home Depot today in which the assistant manager had removed the trash cans because she believed they cluttered up the floor. Which led to everyone putting their trash…on the floor. The mind boggles at such reasoning.

I worked at a McDonalds that took their drive-through trashcans out because they always got full and looked bad.

Cue a billion-% increase in the amount of crumpled receipts in the parking lot.

Our Home Depot has refused to put trash cans in the parking lot because the day laborers will fill them up. You can imagine what the parking lot looks like…and the neighbor’s yards…

And to think all this time I was putting money in the “petty trash” box!

Chicago has not been representing itself well for QUITE some time now. And I say that as a life-long resident.

i think that may have been a pointed reference to the earlier legitimately passive aggressive note.

It’s still passive-aggressive if you intentionally type the note to prevent having your handwriting analyzed and you don’t sign it.

The second note would only be considered passive aggressive in an Alanis Morissette song entitled “Isn’t it Passive Aggressive?”

Don’t you think 2nd note was from some passive- aggressively leaving trash where the can used to be?

Maybe it was just me, but I read the second note as either sarcastic or at least a bit tongue-in-cheek. I liked it though xD
