“No” questions asked

November 26th, 2007 · 122 Comments

I love how the notewriter quickly abandons the initial pretense here, then completely throws in the towel with the last line.

Will the people who "borrowed" our flower boxes (white flowers, dirt and all) please return them? No questions asked. :( (Except - WHY???)

Thanks to Adam in San Francisco for spotting this masterpiece!

Oh, the irony

Sadly, no backstory for this one, except that it was found on a door in San Francisco — but I think this is one of those exchanges that does pretty much speak for itself.

Despite the obvious criticism richard opens himself up to, I think you have to give the guy props for having the guts to actually sign his response. In this situation, he’s being about as direct as he could possibly be, no?

At least it wasn’t “Grand Valse”

September 16th, 2007 · 191 Comments

According to a 2006 Harris poll, office-workers say annoying ringtones are one of their biggest pet peeves — second only to office loud talkers. So I’m actually surprised we haven’t seen more notes like this one, which Flickr’s Heather Champ found taped to her (chirping) cell phone once upon a time.

Some creative brainstorming and flexible thinking

August 8th, 2007 · 108 Comments

Jenn in San Francisco received this little from a then-roommate who she lived with for a year but barely ever saw or spoke to. Says Jenn, “She was rarely seen outside the confines of her own room and seemed to prefer communicating electronically and then, only when absolutely necessary. So you can imagine, she probably stewed on the issue for a very long time. ” (Click the image to enlarge.)

Adds Jenn: Guess how this flexible-thinking roommate paid her bills? “By conducting CULTURAL SENSITIVITY TRAINING COURSES TO CORPORATE EMPLOYEES.”

Visual aids always help

From Lars in San Francisco.

Please get yourself a pair of slippers so the person downstairs from you could get some sleep. Try to lift the chair, not dragging it.

Gentrification is insanit(ar)y

May 28th, 2007 · 21 Comments

This sign (spotted by Seamus in Noe Valley, San Fran) is sort of a West-Coast version of this, no?

Liberal loonies take notice. Please do not spit on my windows because your liberal looney views are different than mine. It is not the American way, also it is insanitary [sic] to spread your radical germs in Looney Valley.
