Spotted in the reception area of a doctors’ office:

It is your choice to be rude to any member of our staff. It will be our choice to discuss the transfer of your medical records to another physician. Dr.'s XXXX & XXXXXX And, yes, we are saddened to have to post this sign. If you do not have an appointment and you do not have a life-threatening illness but you still demand to be seen by your doctor then please turn around and ask everyone else for their permission to be seen first. (Remember to tell them that your time is more important and that they probably won't mind waiting a little longer.)

Hard Candy

“My best friend works at a hospital as a RN,” Jesse writes, “and one day, after a ridiculously long shift, she reached into the breakroom candy dish expecting, well, candy, and got a handful of pushpins instead. She wrote this note because a) she’s a smartass and b) to warn others.”

Jesse continues: “Minutes later, a doctor came in, reached into the candy dish, and popped one into his mouth. Then he spit it out, exclaiming, ‘This isn’t candy!’ My friend looked at him, and with a straight face said, ‘That’s why the note is there, Doctor.’ He looked down, read the note, and promptly left the room.”

This is not candy.

Adds Jesse: “But seriously, what kind of troll puts push pins in a candy dish?”

Explains Kevin in Los Angeles: ”The hospital basement has a corridor lined with call rooms assigned to the residents from various medical specialties. While the department of medicine easily surpasses all other specialties in number of reserved rooms, they have started squatting in other rooms as well. It looks like the psych residents were not pleased by this antisocial behavior.”

Psychiatry residents take overnight in-house call every day just like medicine. Please do not use this call room if you are not part of the Psychiatry department. THANK YOU!! [WE ALSO HAVE AN INFERIORITY COMPLEX, BUT MORE ON THAT IN THE DSM V.]
