Cereal killer

June 3rd, 2007 · 21 Comments

“My roommate Ian kept eating all the cereal I bought before I had a chance to have even a single bowl,” Dan says. Apparently the Cap’n decided to take matters into his own hands.

If I catch you eating this delicious cereal, I'll kill you in your sleep.

If you can’t read it, the Cap’n is saying: “Ian, If I catch you eating this delicious cereal, I’ll kill you in your sleep. Love, Dan.”

“I was out of the country for a week, and when I came back, I found this gem taped to the bathroom mirror,” explains our anonymous submitter in New York City”" (a.k.a. ‘Pig’). ”I’ve since moved out of the apartment — after she accused me of peeing on the bathroom floor and into the non-existent bathroom air freshener, and I decided I couldn’t take any more of her.”

Let's start with some basic bathroom etiquette.

CARE: it makes a difference

This girl is like the archetypal freshman roommate, no?

I'm sick & tired of leaving nice little notes

From Megan in Charleston, who was not the slob that this note might suggest.

With 17 roommates, it could have been worse

This lovely petri dish courtesy of Ben, who explains: “While living in a house in London with 17 people from all over the world, things become way too green. This had to be done every once in a while in order to remind others not to overpopulate our kitchen with new living organisms.”

If you don't want GREEN stuff growing out of our plates, please wash your dishes. Cheers

That shit is disrespectful.

Mike gets the last word in this exchange.

WTF Mike, I just sat in some piss on the seat. Clean up after yourself! That shit is disrespectful. -KreggOh please. Last I used the toilet I was sitting, reading a book. Am I to hear I have magical flying piss now? Let's not even get me started on cleanliness issues, shall we? And honestly, stop it w/ the passive-aggressive notes and walk-by accusations. "that shit is disrespectful" -Mike

That’d be GREAT

In evidence here, a key element of the passive-aggressive lexicon —and one of the many elevated to catchphrase status by Mike Judge.

This example comes from Peter (no, not that Peter), who has since escaped roommate living but offers these words of wisdom for those of us who haven’t: “Never trust anyone who uses post-it notes at home.”

Peter — I'm not too happy with your inability to provide me with some cookies. If we could fix this situation, that'd be great. Thanks, Jon
