  • #974  morpho aurora

well it doesnt sound like that when it comes out of my mouth. trust me there is absolutely no way to phoenetically type that phrase southern style. it has to be heard to be believed. you hear it a lot at my house, in various forms.

    Sep 29, 2007 at 11:30 pm

  • #973  Canthz_B

M-A, how ’bout “Fuck yoo too yoo silly beech, sheeit!”

    Sep 29, 2007 at 11:27 pm

  • #972  Canthz_B

I argue some, you folks may have noticed that about me. But I will not argue with “Fuck you too you silly bitch” uttered with a Southern drawl…that would be just wrong! LMAO

    Sep 29, 2007 at 11:23 pm

  • #971  morpho aurora

bless yore lil heart, you are tryin

seriously, yeah, i’ve got a drawl, don’t ever ask me to say the word light

Those triple whippings taught me two things…1) Don’t do wrong, 2) If you do wrong, don’t get caught!

I spent a few years (late teens to early twenties) doing wrong, but I never got caught! :-)

    Sep 29, 2007 at 8:33 pm

  • #933  Canthz_B

OK, safe “back in the day story”: Children are safe from abuse now, but back then…..Any adult could spank you, take you to your parent and tell what you had done and then your parent would give you a double whipping, one for doing what you did, the other for being embarrassed because someone else caught you doing it!

hi guys - stopping in to say hello cuz we’re taking a break from arts-n-crafts :)

we’re fingerpainting and have to let the paper dry before we can start gluing crap to it. yippee.

at least it’s better than the fingerpainting they USED to do in their cribs - unauthorized and very stinky, of course.

sorry I’ve been awol more than usual, but the old man is off work this week so I can’t find enough excuses to be on the computer all night!

I’d love to hear some more “back in the day” stories. racist people need to get a big dose of my foot up their ass.

    Wow, the 1960’s!
My 40 year old story before we get back to the future:
In ‘67 my sister, brother and I were returning from a summer at grandma’s in South Carolina.
All was well from Charlotte, NC to Winston-Salem but after a rest stop the driver said there were no seats for us so we would have to leave the bus. Our luggage had already been removed and was visible outside.
Well, my sister (10 years old) started her patented water-works, my brother(8) and I (5) followed suit. I wish I could reproduce my sister’s cry here, suffice it to say she could open an overcast sky!
After some really red faces, our bags were put in the aisle at the back of our Greyhound bus and we rode the rest of the way to Newark, NJ sitting on them.
Now that was an adventure in ‘if you paid for a seat is it your’s for the whole trip?!’
    Hell, we survived!! LOL

    Sep 29, 2007 at 5:40 pm

  • #916  Canthz_B

No doubt a boxer fetish. :-)

That’s what you get for being an N-lover! ROTFLMAO

    On a lighter note ;)

I’m starting to think lola has a country club fetish, what with all the talk of golf carts and pool boys, lol.

Oh noes!! I typed fetish. No telling what sort of Google ads I’m going to be blamed for now. :D

    Sep 29, 2007 at 4:45 pm

  • #914  Wade

That sort of thing is why I am grateful I grew up the way I did, CB. Most of the schools I attended were either on or near the base, and we were all together. If anything, the only distinction was between military and civilian kids. It also helped that my parents, both children of the South, never exhibited any racial prejudice around me and my sister.

Here’s one for you: One of the schools I attended was in Houston in the mid-60’s (yeah, I know, before G and Lola and Morpho were born, lol). It was far enough from the base that most of the kids were from the community. We were looking at a map of Africa, and some of the guys were mispronouncing Niger, and laughing about it. When I tried to correct them (not out of a spirit of tolerance, but because it was just flat-out ignorant), one of them rounded on me and called a N*gg*r-lover. It was my first taste of race hatred, and it came from the mouth of a 4th grader. I was so glad we were transferred to California after that.

I decided after that experience to always try to get to know people for who they are, not what someone else says I should think about them. Everybody has a life to live and a story to tell, and every time my life intersects with someone, I am always the richer.

Oh shoot, I skipped the funny part!!
They sold to a Black family! HA HA…

    Sep 29, 2007 at 2:57 pm

  • #912  Canthz_B

Wade I wanted to touch on “White Flight” re: Public schools but not “over there”.
This is funny I think (ha ha funny, not strange funny).
My family moved across our town in 1974 just before I started 8th grade. My new best friend was a White kid named Orin J. In fact we were in Orin’s pool when Nixon resigned. Anyway, their house was on the market within 2 months of our moving onto the block. When I asked hi why they were moving he said (and I’m not making this up) “My Mom says there are too many Niggers around…Not you, you know what I mean, right?”
Well a year later it was time for High School and things had completely changed. Teachers who had classrooms full of White kids two years earlier suddenly looked out over a sea of Black faces. They come to love us and we came to love them. They got to see that bright minds can be behind Black faces and we to see that a good, caring teacher could be of any hue.
Dare I say that there was promise in the air?
Well, I sure miss the 1970’s.
