Rose is in the Seattle area, shacked up with TOS.

I got divorced about a year ago and am currently seeing someone new.

    CB got married.

Glo is currently “on” with the Motorcycle.

I actually booked the ticket of Vegas on next day of exam so that thought of reward would make me study but no avail yet. Looks like I will be studying the whole night before the 8 hours exam. I may have broken my addiction, or shall I say dependency to life in the Q. Yet I look back at the good old days with great nostalgia. I once thought of this “community” as a country house where we all gathered… a wonderful vacation home. Edgar always was at hand to tend bar and get the party rolling. We all shared our triumphs and misery; we hugged and consoled one another. There was laughter and tears… I will always be thankful for my cif’s. ♥ There will always be a bond I feel for all of you.

This morning I woke, missed you all so desperately….what fun times we had. The country house has since been replaced. Do you think we can ever rebuild? Now I see us all as travelers passing through. Think about a trailhead when you are hiking…we are all hiking the Pacific Crest Trail. Sometimes at the trailhead you may find a large corkboard to get information, a map of the area, people will leave notes to others. Sometimes along the trail you will find water, some may include notes of encouragement, water that has been left by other’s, just in case someone traveling through is in need of a drink, it quenches the thirst, you may feel great love for that person who was so thoughtful to leave you that drink, that little note of encouragement to get you above the clouds and see things clearly….so now, this is where I come when I am thirsty, when I have hit fog and need to rise up and finish the climb. Taking a rest and stop for some water to quench my thirst. Thank you all for the messages that are left on the corkboard. So nice to know that we are all so busy going to our destinations, that we are sustained with just a sip of water and a note of encouragement. I will always remember the country house and all the great friendships that were forged, forever to remember…. Aaahhhh, feeling kind of sappy. *translation; sad-happy. * ♥

Now to continue on the journey, to get back on the trail, maybe I will meet some of you on the way to the summit

*runs off embarrassed, throwing kisses to all*

I really have to get a passport. Or one of those special driver’s licenses that allows you to drive into Canada…

Hopefully we will come your way soon Beans! I think that Toronto should be seriously considered as a future PANvention site since there is so much to do there. It would also make us international PANventioneers!

well hello everyone, just saw this discussion of Panvention. I would be interested too. upstate NY, Madison/Milwaukee, DC are all good. Seattle may even work depending on time frame.
Wo, I saw that “uptight” comment, but I was reluctant to feed the trolls.

I am strongly in favour of Lesser podunk and upstate NY (Buffalo?) as finalist for a early summer date. Buffalo mainly because the chance of a trans border international PAN incident is high. Let the hijinks ensue!

Also, YOQI has a flickr account now, and you can see the type of accommodations you could have. If you search flickr for Ye Olde Quainte Inne you should find it. If you don’t know exactly what YOQI is really called, message me.

Ooooh, that’s a GREAT idea, Mo®. I would probably vote for that first. It’s cheap for pretty much ANYONE to get to Vegas, and rooms are generally not too bad. And there’s plenty of drinks and fun to be had. Maybe one person could even rent a car so we could do some stuff off-Strip. We could see a show together. And ride the rides on top of the Stratosphere.
We’d want to time it to avoid large conventions though.

I could generally take off a week of vacation with enough warning. Falltime would be OK too, and like (((Glo))) said might be better for NOLA or Vegas or PHX. Though May or July in Lesser Podunk would be pretty cool too.

I definitely wish to attend PANvention 2011. If we pick a summer date, I think it should be in either upstate New York or Lesser Podunk. If y’all can take a mid-week vacation, I can get us kick-ass pricing at YOQI. Weekend I can get us some discount, but not as good as mid-week (Sun-Thurs). If we’re going to do NOLA or Las Vegas or PHX, I think we should wait til fall. (Mostly because I don’t know if I’ll have money enough to travel in spring.)

Oooh, I would agree with Madison/Milwaukee/Lesser Podunk. We could rent a few rooms at YOQI and torment BL.
Austin would also be great, and Portland also would be great. And Toronto. And NOLA. And DC. Any other suggestions, or any reasons why we should ex out any of those? (of course, we’ll have to ex out all but one of them, so get to ex-ing!)

You know I am open to any location for PANvention2011. I would remind people that May can be rather dodgy for temperature reasons in Phoenix. We could already be in the 100+ zone by then. Seattle was good but in keeping with the new city every time I want to suggest NOLA, Madison/ Milwaukee, Portland or dare I say Austin as a bizzaro suggestion. Heck let’s go international and consider Toronto.

    (((CIFs)))

I was texting (((Amy d ♥))) yesterday and we got to talking about PANVention’11. The floor is open. I suggest Seattle again. :P Or NOLA. Or Phoenix. Or Wash DC. But I’m open to location. I would also say that mid-June would NOT be good for me (gotta go to the beer convention then). May might be better, it wouldn’t be quite so hot yet. Who is possibly interested? We could move discussion to an e-mail thread once we get a list of “possibly interested” folks. I will say that the previous two PANVentions have been extremely fun and wonderful times.

It’s the first really long word any of us ever heard, and I for one used to say it just to feel myself say it.
It was years before I even thought about what it could possibly mean, and by then it wasn’t a very special word any longer. :-|

Just as humans are capable of great good, so are they capable of terrible evil. It’s the dichotomy we must face.

On a lighter note, I lol’d noticing that Spork Girl has dropped her (formerly Jon) after her words with Wo.

creepy is not even close in describing it. It like stabbed my soul. The setting is so normal and modern it just got me. I am really unnerved. I thought about Sati tradition( widow is burned alive with her husband’s deadbody) that is long abandoned but that tradition proves this story could be absolutely real and plausible. Fact that humankind (when acts as a mass) is capable of such thing has me left really unnerved. Sati tradition existed in perfectly normal villages of India where people were otherwise walking talking temple going, donating to poor, hating crimes kind. I just can’t digest it.
