Here’s a story about the time I came closest, as an adult, to hitting someone in rage, CB. It was a festival weekend, and guests were bringing their dishes into the kitchen and put them down on my working counter instead of leaving them on their tables to be bussed. This is a manuever that greatly annoys the other two bakers, but doesn’t bother me too much. The BL was standing behind me, and couldn’t see my face. I was perfectly pleasant to the guests and thanked them for bringing me their dishes as I transfered them to the dirty dish counter. When the guests were gone, the BL said, “they were only trying to help. Don’t show them your booger face.” My vision literally blacked out from rage. Besides the fact that I was disgusted by her infantile term, I have never been rude to a guest, by look or speech, no matter how often I have wanted to. In extremely calm and measured accents, I informed the BL this, and indicated my displeasure to her. She practically ran out of my kitchen.
