nope. i ended up just throwing them out. what a waste of two strips of bacon.

i also made rice and beans beans a la tanzania and those were delish.
and to answer your question, i soaked them overnight before i cooked them. i’ve cooked beans before, just not baked beans.

(i just wanted to use “beans” a lot)

hey rose probebly you are right, I presume lots of things.
but the poems I know are altogether in different language(Urdu, alos not my first language) so translating would take them very long time.
but I ‘ll post them sometimes because they are beautiful beautiful poems. Lyrics/concept all are die for. some of them are sung and I love composition/music too.
one of them is avilable on you tube
Aaj jane ki zid na karo…(farida khanam one)
will post link to it when at home.

Good morning/evening/afternoon – I’m running through the shower soon (now). ‘glo, for once in my life I wasn’t lurking. Adam’s coming along well, huh? I thought his first comment might have been the snark, at first.

oi, you assume/presume (tinks, you’re the lawyer, and can get us there) a lot about us. You’re probably right. We probably don’t know any poetry you wanted to put up. I don’t really know the poetry that other people post either, except by name (sometimes) as I have trouble reading classics, even if those classics are considered modern poetry.

Likewise, I guess there are some Australian poems I could put up, but, even though I know them, I don’t love them enough to post them. I also guess no-one else knows them, so I do see where you’re coming from. However, I posted some Li Young-Lee that other people didn’t know. They enjoyed it, despite not knowing it, might be the case for you, too (or maybe a few stanzas if the poems go on forever).

Rose, I’m steering him into thriller territory with sci fi elements. I love me some conspiracy theory. The problem is that he has the whole thing sort of plotted in his head and part of my job is pulling it out of him and trying to organize and make sense of things. He tosses things out that just can’t work with other things he has decided. Sort of a “Um, if these people have been totally cut off from the outside world, how can there be a newscast about one of them?”

My somber contribution from The Rubaiyat of Omar Khayyam (love ya, ‘Les):

    XXXI
Up from Earth’s Centre through the Seventh Gate
    rose, and on the Throne of Saturn sate;
    And many a Knot unravel’d by the Road;
But not the Master-knot of Human Fate.

    XXXII
    There was the Door to which I found no Key;
There was the Veil through which I might not see:
Some little talk awhile of Me and Thee
There was–and then no more of Thee and Me.

    XXXIII
Earth could not answer; nor the Seas that mourn
    In flowing Purple, of their Lord forlorn;
Nor rolling Heaven, with all his Signs reveal’d
And hidden by the sleeve of Night and Morn.

    XXXIV
Then of the Thee in Me works behind
The Veil, I lifted up my hands to find
A Lamp amid the Darkness; and I heard,
As from Without–”The Me Within Thee Blind!”

    XXXV
Then to the lip of this poor earthen Urn
I lean’d, the Secret of my Life to learn:
And Lip to Lip it murmur’d–”While you live
Drink!–for, once dead, you never shall return.”

Though I’m not sure about O’s feelings on XXXIV, because the she in me cannot be blind as long as she shares my soul and I see life the way she taught me to view it.
Celeste lives as long as my love for her lives, and that’s as long as I remain alive.
The she in me cannot be removed because I’m a different person for having had her share my life and having shared hers.

Even if we did have immoral premarital sex! :-P

You know how I feel about wallowing, Wade.

Strictly not allowed. Unless I’m invited to wallow too. ;)

my sorrow, when she’s here with me,
thinks these dark days of Autumn rain
are beautiful as days can be.
She loves the bar, the withered tree
she walks the sodden pasture lane.

Her pleasure will not let me stay.
She talks and I am fain to list:
She’s glad the birds are gone away,
she’s glad her simple worsted gray
is silver now with clinging mist.

i don’t know if that’s what we are doing but those are some of my favourite lines of poetry. especially the last three. from “My Novermber Guest” by Robert Frost.

    Borrowing
    From the French

Some of the hurts you have cured,
And the sharpest you still have survived,
But what torments of grief you endured
    From evils which never arrived!

    Ralph Waldo Emerson. 1803–1882

I used to wish away your memory every night
Trying to erase the lines you’ve drawn
But suddenly you’ve faded almost out of sight
    Now you’re going, going, gone

    Why did I try
    So hard to let you
When deep down I don’t know
If I am really ready to say goodbye
Now what am I gonna hold on to
    I miss missing you

I always felt some comfort in my loneliness
If nothing else it filled the space
    Now that I’m over you
    I’m left with emptiness
And nothing to take its place

    Why did I try
    So hard to let you
When deep down I don’t know
If I am really ready to say goodbye
Now what am I gonna hold on to
    I miss missing

You smiled on every stranger’s face that I saw
Now I have to concentrate to remember you at all
    Why did I try
    So hard to let you
When deep down I don’t know
If I am really ready to say goodbye
Now what am I gonna hold on to
    I miss missing you

    Yes I do
    I miss missing you

damn you, autumn, with your early sunsets :|

might explain why i’m always alone in this room, too… but really, i am cutting things up now…i am not really here.

cut them up and stick a toothpick in your mouth, beans. but, i still cry – keeps you breathing through your mouth, i think, which helps. only cut off one end when peeling, etc. it’s why i don’t make french onion soup.

not arts and crafts – beans. language, but fun, anyway.

I don’t think so, ‘glo, but I’d have to look it up. The Capricorns should be suffering under that one now ;)
Things have definitely lifted for me, anyhow… compared to the last, strange decade of my life… but I do have my ups and downs, only not as severe (so I tell myself) – but truly, not as severe.

I must copy things and cut them up, ‘glo. I hope you have a gentle evening, anyway and that some other troublemakers wander through.

Well, you know what I’m going to say, ‘glo… the full moon has just passed (gas).

I know… *nudge, nudge, wink, wink*… It’s all beans’ fault. Now if she had some way to stop this uncontrollable spilling of ellipses.

I’ve been a bit up and down this week, too. Your B/L needs to quit, though.

I always come in at the fag end of either day. Though I guess the beginning of the day can’t be the fag end. (heh, heh… I know it doesn’t have the multiple connotations it has in UK English… just substitute ‘dog end’… but now that might take us into deeper water…)

I’d agree with Wo and glo, for the reasons that Wo gave (about the beans, beans).

Wo, enjoy your wine and food. Glo, the day was not so good for you?

If the cake pan has a dark finish, keep an eye on them so they don’t burn to the bottom. Otherwise it should be fine, beansie.

Hey, rose. Off to have some wine and prep for dinner.

while you can cook a cake in a glass dish, I’m not sure it works the other way around. I have never baked beans in my life, so I’ll let the others bring their wisdom to the table.

sorry your work has the microbes, t. mo. o.
