ZB - when your comment gets eaten, it’s usually because the Heisa monster has taken it and eaten it…

It does that sometimes, zombie. We usually edit a pre-existing comment and slip the links in that way.

Okay, just updating paper progress: given up on picking two years out of a hat and am focusing on these two pieces, augustasavage and palmerhayden to base a paper about the Harlem Renaissance.

    thanks amyd

Zombie is indeed Blanca, unless I am mistaken.

*uses this phrasing when she wants to let her friends down gently*

CB, does she know that? Maybe you need to “talk”?

Really? I think I asked earlier and since I wasn’t contradicted, I guess I assumed I was correct

    Sorry zb.

    No, ‘glo, I am not.

Tell all the Truth but tell it slant—
    Success in Cirrcuit lies
Too bright for our infirm Delight

    With explanation kind
    The Truth must dazzle gradually

    May 4, 2008 at 2:38 pm

  • #46866  Wade

in a former job, anyone who had been employed longer than 7 years had to take a personality test as part of a session with a career counselor.

i finished the test and gave it to the guy. he started to read it, and he looked up at me wide-eyed. i smiled back pleasantly. he pushed the test back across the table and asked if i wanted to “adjust” some of my answers. having made my point, i changed the answers that made me out as a homicidal ax murderer and we finished the session.

    May 4, 2008 at 2:19 pm

  • #46848  anglophile

OK, yeah, that was lame. I didn’t get enough sleep again last night.

Amy, I am so good at taking tests, I recognize the faking good questions, such as: I read all the editorials in the newspaper. If you are faking being good, but are not, you will strongly agree with that question. But if you are really good, you know that any kind of absolute like that is a trap, so you answer “agree somewhat” if you tend to read the editorials, or anything along the disagree scale if you don’t read editorials.

    May 4, 2008 at 2:02 pm

  • #46838  amy d

Glo, did the test have a “faking good” scale? You know, to ferret out those good test takers?

    Brb gang.

    May 4, 2008 at 2:01 pm

  • #46837  anglophile

Wade, I remember most vividly having to answer “no” to do you love your father? on one of those tests. Later on they asked if my father was a good man, so I guess that was the check question.

BTW, this was for a Psychopathology class. The professor, in explaining the results of my test to me, told me he had never seen a test that was so completely devoid of psychopathology. The idea that I was, at some point in my life, completely sane has always been a comfort to me. :P

Then again, I am an extremely good test-taker. ;)

    May 4, 2008 at 1:57 pm

    Wade!

Glo, I believe we had this conversation privately already. I cannot make myself vulnerable in here. (jokes)

I feel the same way about height, Wade. I had a bf in 6th grade who was a lot shorter than me. I had to kneel down to be face to face with him.

  • #46832  amy d

Are ya’ll silently trying to figure out my invisible lover comment?

Let me clear it up for you. I was being P/A *gasp* and picking on Wade.

See, Wade said hello to me and Glo. He put the heart byGlo’s name. I’m sure it was an all-inclusive heart, but I played on that with my joke. Since he was the only one to greet, I had to make up another person.

Now ya’ll can quit scratching your heads and return to our previously scheduled talking.

amyd- I will remember the name of the parish/township (?) tonight in my sleep. Will check out the new link after I get myself unglued and write a little of my paper. I have really enjoyed taking classes offered by the local community (junior) college on the internet: they’re cheap and you set your own study times.

    must go work *sob*

    May 4, 2008 at 1:26 pm

  • #46819  amy d

What part of Louisiana was your friend from?

As a renewed commitment to my photography, I have just changed the link in my name from my blog to my flickr page. Let’s face it, I spend more time taking pics than writing. And I’m better at it, too.

Zombie, I would love to do that. I loved being in college and learning new things. Maybe one day, when the time and money are in sync, I ill do that.

    May 4, 2008 at 1:21 pm

  • #46818  zombieBlanco

amyd- have just renewed my commitment to some day get to the south. I had (he passed away) a long time friend that was born and raised on a farm in Louisiana that had been in his family for generations, I’ve always wanted to visit. Would love to see pics if you do get unglued and out to the museum/planetarium.

glo’- originally went to better myself, then spent two years cramming so that I could apply to a program outside of the area, then random event happened to make that impossible, now just enjoying classes that catch my eye.

    May 4, 2008 at 1:16 pm

  • #46817  anglophile

I haven’t been to a planetarium in ages! Sounds like a good plan, ames.

Are you going for a degree, zombie, or just bettering yourself?

    Lunch break!

    May 4, 2008 at 1:08 pm

  • #46816  amy d

I’m in Louisiana. I actually want to go cause they have some cool architecture and sculptures on the inside. I hope they will let me take pictures.

    May 4, 2008 at 1:03 pm

  • #46815  zombieBlanco

    amyd-
what state are you in, to visit its museum? I’ve never been to a planetarium, which seems a sad lack.

    May 4, 2008 at 1:00 pm

  • #46814  amy d

That actually sounds very interesting, zombie.

    May 4, 2008 at 12:55 pm

  • #46813  zombieBlanco

giggles, ass glued to the recliner, giggles some more

Today I have to pick two of the last hundred years and write about the art movements of that time and how they were influenced by the events around them. (did everybody just hear blah, blah, blah?) I’m going to do 1926 or 7 and talk about the Harlem Renaissance and then I still have to pick another year.

    May 4, 2008 at 12:47 pm

  • #46812  amy d

Yea, I’m thinking of going to the state museum and maybe the planetarium.

    May 4, 2008 at 12:38 pm

  • #46811  anglophile

I am almost completely ignoring work responsibilities in favor of messing about on the computer. I suppose I’ll have to knuckle down in a bit and get a few token things done.

Your breakfast sounds yummy, zombie. What are you studying today? More art history?

    May 4, 2008 at 12:36 pm

Currently, my ass appears to be glued to the recliner.

    May 4, 2008 at 12:27 pm

  • #46809  zombieBlanco

I think I will pop in and out today. I’m having a bit of breakfast; yunnan/IB tea, english muffin, egg over-medium, and then I’ll start on homework. again sob
To motivate myself, I’m going to let myself have study breaks and read blogs. Forewarned is forearmed! (or something silly like that)

    May 4, 2008 at 12:27 pm

  • #46808  amy d

Nope, that would be against our trouble-making principles. As a matter of fact, if we took care of our responsibilities, we wouldn’t get in any trouble , now would we?

    May 4, 2008 at 12:26 pm

  • #46807  anglophile

Yeah, we don’t let any stinkin’ responsibility get in the way of Making Trouble, do we, amy?
