you guys, this website is literally like my morning paper. and it has almost gotten me in trouble quite a few times, but the banana hammock comment did get me into a little tizzy too…
those guys are just hilarious!
Try clicking on “Craptions” at the menu at the top, they are pretty cool too, almost like PAN, just with pics not notes…
I am trying to keep my cool with this pic hope I don’t get in trouble!

a 1978 Honda Hawk. I told him if he wants to get a fixer-uper bike he can, but then no XBox. If his mom finds out she will KILL me!
Glo, that would be HILARIOUS! Have you and/or the motorcycle seen “Long Way Round”? it is a most awesome documentary about Ewan MacGregor and Charlie Boorman riding motorcycles around the world. It is REALLY good, entertaining even if you are not super into motorcycles.

OMG, UHG! I just had a total vision of us, on motorcycles, passing each other on some windy Central Wisconsin road, and never knowing it was each other. What kind of motorcycles is he looking at? *has recently survived a crash course on cruisers vs. touring and heard all about the pros and cons of hondas vs. bmw* Seriously, though, it’s a lot of fun. We spent half of yesterday riding around. The motorcycle, of course, knows all the twisty roads nearby.
Mish, I think Troy is planning to be gone a couple of months, actually.

fantasy: Mr. Mishee: I can talk his ear off during a movie (and he can give just as well, you should see him try to get off of a call with either of his 3 sisters, his mother, his aunt, or the hardest, his grandmother - they can make me look like a mute tho!) and he just tunes it out - I guess he has pratice at that.

#47880 unholyghost2003

Fantasy, I think it is more a function of interests than age.
I suppose I have to give them credit though, they ALL nod politely when I start blathering on about Harry Potter or some other topic I am obsessed with. I have been known to stop a trivia game (not Trivial Pursuit which tends to be WELL fact checked) by screaming “BUT THAT ANSWER IS WRONG! I’ll get my books and then we can give me the points.”
#47879 RunBarbara

AHAHAHA!!! UHG!!!! You are right!
He was SO annoyed! He even told the people behind us about it.
“Um, the BLACK spider man had web-shooters build INTO his costume and though there HAVE been incarnations of Spiderman with webs in his wrists it was in an entirely different story line”
Nothing beats the horror-rant he went into for days after we saw the sequel to Fantastic Four. It was really amazing.

um.
yeah.
comic books nerds like three things:
1. being right
2. correcting people
3. boobs
the mister and i went to iron man on friday and the people in like behind us were talking about The Iron Giant saying that Iron Man was based on it. I see him start to tremble and fidget and then he turns and shouts:
“um, TECHnically, Iron Man has been around his first appearance in Tales of Suspense #39 which came out in 1963. So, youre wrong!”
and then he smiles and turns around, glowing, like he just won a fucking Oscar.

that sucks RB! (I just realized we now have a CB, RB, and ZB… we are getting so diverse!!)
Mr. Mishee d0es the comic book thing too, not that bad though, he doesn’t collect them, but he did when he was a kid. He about had a coronary when I told him (a few years ago) that Lois Lane was going to be added to the cast of Smallville, insisting that “Lois Lane never went to Smallville until later with Clark!!” It’s like, don’t you realize these companies pay huge amounts of money for the rights to these stories so they can do what they want and (usually) fuck it up?? It’s called Creative License!! Duh!!

the mister is a comic book nerd.
not mildly, severely.
we cant even watch a comic based movie without him leaning over and saying, in his adorably sniffly voice, “um, actually..this would never happen…technically, batman doesnt use guns so it would be ridiculous for him to be blah blah blah”
or if he buys the toys based on a movie (to play with in the miniature city he built in our office) he will repaint them because:
“barbara gordon as batgirl had yellow boots and this figure has navy blue boots which were only ever seen in a couple of variant issues of batman…can you pick me up some xanthium yellow at michaels? not the usual yellow. this one has the right amount of gold fleck *snort snort*”

yeah Mish, engineers *sigh* as great as they can be sometimes you just want to throttle them. “STOP! It was a JOKE! There is no need to explain the history of Bars, Judaism, Catholicism, and tell me about the various types of Ducks. GAH!”
#47859 Mishee
on May 7, 2008 at 10:17 am
That is something that Mr. Mishee would totally do…
My daddy is even worse, he would get on google or something and figure out just which clipart it was and then analyze it from there and find out the make and the most probable year… then he would go on to eBay and find out how much it was worth by looking up auctions, and then probably go buy a documentary on the history and making of the gun in question, and then go look up youtube songs and other stuff with references to the gun, and maybe even write a poem about the gun if it was a poetic enough one…
I swear to you this is ALL completely true…
He is an optical engineer (works with little tiny lenses and builds lasers and shit like that). Does that explain much?
and fantasy, if you haven’t read Harry Potter, I suggest that is the way to go… it doesn’t make you TOTALLY think, but it’s extremely engaging and addictive! And not having the wait time makes it even better!! I went nearly batshit insane waiting for #7 to come out!!

lol glo. I emailed MrUHG about the note/Glock thing, his response:
“Yeah, I just looked at the note. That is not a Glock…though it is a poor representation of any kind of pistol. I suppose it does look somewhat similiar to a Maetaba Semi-Auto Revolver. Though, that would be a highly unusual choice (maybe a Webley-Fosbery semi would be better?).”
and he included links
and as a prop person, I do the same sort of thing, have you seen The Village? I got the “Twist” early, because they used the wrong kind of nails on the coffin.
#47856 unholyghost2003

back squeaky clean, Yeah, I would suggest HP, the Young Wizard Series, The Harper Hall trilogy portion of the Pern Series, heck! for heavily drugged days I would even say A Series of Unfortunate Events ( another series ostensibly intended for Children, but with plenty of jokes that only adults or freaky smart kids will get)
Also, Bridget Jones’ Diary is good, the second one is too strange for me but the first one is good.
#47855 anglophile

Oh, and about being nitpicky about movies. I recently watched one on tv, don’t ask me what it was, I have no idea, that took place in Europe in the 18th century or so and they had what were clearly Morgan horses. This ticked me off because the Morgan is a breed developed in America at the beginning of the 19th century. They could have used any number of other breeds in the movie, but no, they had to use Morgans.

lol Mish, fun to watch movies with aren’t they? Last night we were watching Charlie Wilson’s War (very good if you have not seen it) and they used stock footage of ground to air missiles shooting down planes, MrUHG paused the movie, went BACK to one short clip and started yelling “But That is a BLAHBLAHNUMBERS! That is an AMERICAN plane!”
“Nice honey, but not everyone is a freak like you who is going to catch the error in stock footage choice.”
