Hi Wade, Claw Good morning,
Did I slip up somewhere and mention my surgery? Sorry, it is just that my whole life has just changed from being up and running to nothing almost overnight.
I will keep it at home from now on. Along with my personal life and blog. So I will see you in the afterlife ’cause I have nothing to say. I guess my life does not meet the social status of TMHQ any longer. Maybe you will get lucky and a celebrity will make a show in here or a serial killer.
I have learned a lot from you all Thanks.
Bye.

*comes in dressed as madonna singing like a virgin* Hi Amy! O.K. Amy are we playing sluts or virgins today?* *i can also sing girls just want to have fun* hahahaha!
I just thought I would bring the “Edge Back”. I think it is like life in here, ups and downs. Fun day and blah days. Then we also have to watch out for the old folks rut that is not all bad, jusy friends being comfortable! I have not had a thing to say about the notes lately, I don’t know why. They just seem to be the same all alike!
Goodmorning Amy ♥
Haven’t seen much of you around in a long time. Is Wes keeping you busy? I bet you had a great Mothers Day after this last year? Is that too mundane? I am just interested in my friends.
Is this a bad time everyone?

It’s not that I feel unwelcome here and I see the irony in my fear of breeching protocol, it’s just that there are often pretty sincere personal threads in the HQ that I’d rather not disrupt with irreverence. I mean, sometimes people start posting about surgeries and familial deaths. I don’t take offense to that but I don’t want to seem cruel by injecting my style of humor where it might not be appreciated.
Besides that, I run four blogs, post comments on the note threads here, contribute to several other discussion boards and I write at least two letters to the editor each week. I really don’t have time to participate regularly in the HQ.
Don’t take that the wrong way. The reason I lurk is because I love you guys. Most of you, anyway.

CB, I see what you mean, to a point. We have been missing some of that va-va-vavoom that we used to have in here. We used to use tmhq as an escape from real life, to a degree. It seems to me, however, that it was always peppered with the readiness to surround one of our memebers with support, when needed.
I have actually been thinking about this recently, although less globally. I have lost my own spark and find that I have little of interest to say. It started with the main. I couldn’t find witty comments to make about the notes and then it spread to tmhq. I don’t know why. I bore myself sometimes.

That was not a rule I learned last night, but I am happy to report that we (the motorcycle’s step-mother and me) beat the heck out of the motorcycle and his dad.
The motorcycle is very competitive, so I had a little fun with that! Hee hee.
Good morning, amy, hope you had a good Mom’s Day yesterday? I’d love to stay and chat, but it’s probably best if I sign off now.

What do I have to do to make you more comfortable and a full-fledged TroubleMaker, claw? I’ve been known to be accommodating in the past.
Wade, please look out your window. Do you see any extremely short individuals holding very large lollipops or any women in prom dresses floating around inside a bubble? If so, click your heels three times while saying “there’s no place like home” and skip all the annoying flying monkey bits.
My mundane addition to the conversation: last night I learned to play canasta. I remember my mom having a canasta club. The neighborhood ladies would all come over, eat pretzels and m&m’s and we couldn’t watch tv, had to stay in our rooms. I remember thinking they were all old. They were probably all younger than I am now. Hand me my shawl (OH SHIT—I have made myself a shawl!), won’t you, Wade?

Jeez…I lurk in the HQ but don’t post because I don’t want to jump into conversations that I’m not part of but, CB, you’re channeling my father with all that self-righteous nostalgia. If I may be so bold, it seems that you’ve taken a turn toward taking things so personally here. I know I can get serious on people but there’s nothing I take personally. Take a deep breath and appreciate the buffer the internet provides.
Secondsout is absolutely correct, you have the power to interject levity at anytime. Like I said, I don’t participate in here a whole lot because I feel like I’m barging in on a table full of co-workers having a chat but I’ll throw a non sequitor in here once in a while.

CB and Crash, as a sometimes chess player, I like the analogy, but just to be contrarian, I would point out that in life, you’re not usually facing an opponent that will make moves in an ordered fashion. Sometimes you think you have a rook, and suddenly it’s gone. Pawns move backwards, and there are more than 64 possible places to go.
Anyway, I actually spent some time reading TMHQ posts from a long time ago. While you’re waxing nostalgic about how it used to be, it’s always been a bit conversational. OK, it was a lot raunchier at times, but I read long descriptions of people’s Christmas celebrations. I guess my advice to you would be to be the change you want to see in the TMHQ. Initiate conversations that you want to have. Don’t respond to dull posts. Be that made-up character you were hoping to be.

But,
HELL YA’ !!
I want a thought provoking conversation,
I like to know my brain still works how it used to…
If I don’t get something I’ll say so, or not.
But I liked Troy’s conversations…
They always made me think.
And W.P. too,
He kept me on my toes…
But they aren’t here anymore.
You keep me on my toes too C.B.
And so do a few others
with all the antics here.
Making me think…
But I also like to know how people are doing too.
What their daily life is like.
Which is why I ask how everyone’s doing,
Cause I don’t dislike anyone here.
But I do know what edge you’re talking about, I miss it too.
Didn’t I have a walrus ???
WTF happened to it ?
And for Christ’s sake…

And I don’t expect anyone to post all the time.
But I know what you mean…
I just don’t know what to do about it.
Some people just bring in energy with them that’s needed for here I think.
And somehow it got a little more organised where people show up at specific times and leave at specific time and …best of luck catching them here.

Of course, with chess it’s pretty easy to play your own offense and defense and then work to understand your opponent’s offense and defense…life is a bit more complicated.
May 12, 2008 at 1:23 am
Comment #48855
I just meant that people make moves in anticipation of what others may do as a response.
Chess teaches us how to think a few moves ahead and view things as they will be in the future rather than in the now. It all depends upon what we do and what the other does as a response.
The key to chess, as with life, is to have more viable options left open to you than your opposition in the end.

I just ment it as a game…
I never learned the history of it though.
So I don’t know that much about it.
But it was a game from childhood is all.
I guess if I used an analogy, you can chalk it up to accidental…
LOL

Not sure if you meant to use the chess analogy, but weighing my pros and cons is what I have been doing for the last month or so.

May 12, 2008 at 12:59 am
Comment #48852
You play chess ?
Thats a game my mom taught us to play when we were kids.
She never did let us win,
We had to win by strategy.
You know,
Most of the time when I moved, I always weighed out pro’s and con’s…like most people do.
So far here there’s more pro’s that keep me here.
I think if you can live somewhere and call it home…
Why move away ?
But then, if you can’t stay and call it home…
Why stay ?

There is always something to do if you’d like.
I live less than half an hour from NYC and there is just nothing else like it.
I can go to Military Park in Newark and play chess if I like or just go sit in Central Park in NY for a few hours on a summer evening.

Here in NJ we get freezing cold winters and hot, humid summers, but no drastic weather for the most part. The earth does not shake, hurricanes normally blow themselves out before they get here, no great fires, no tornadoes, no mudslides, no volcanic eruptions, rarely even hailstones. Just rain, snow, sleet, or shine.
Way too much rain in the Pac NW for me.
