As a new day dawns upon THMQ, our heroine checks her e-mail again and again, to find only rejection letters from nursing programs across the nation. Heartbroken, she envisions a future devoid of sponge bath practice and weeps for the lost opportunity. Her overnight dreams of CB and soapy sponges echo cruelly in her brain now that she knows it will never be. As she drags herself off to another lonely shower, she wonders if she will ever find the kind of happiness that only a sponge bath can bring. Her eyes blinded with tears, she runs into an oddly-placed pile of chairs, inexplicably covered with a shawl, and stubs her toe.

Godammit! What brainless genius put all the chairs here?

Bed time, but one last pet peeve before I go: Term Life Insurance.
If you have a term life policy you are a sucker.
You have a large policy that you will pay for for 20 years that the insurance company knows you will not die within. That leaves you trying to renew (not gonna happen, sucker) when you’re twenty years older.
Buy a whole-life policy. Yes, it costs more for less, but you can borrow from some of them and you at least have guaranteed coverage for life.

CB’s facts of life for the night.

I generally only smoke indoors at home. I used to in bars when it was legal because that was where others were drinking and smoking.
I remember when bowling alleys had the ashtrays built into the tables.
But I have a problem with the obese people who want to have an attitude with me smoking outdoors, as if I make more pollution than the trucks that deliver their food to the local super-duper-market.

Fact: there is no smoking at Giants Stadium. No it’s not even a dome. Someone just decided that a complete oval constitutes an enclosed space and that means that you are inside…even if the rain and snow tells you otherwise!

I get distracted and don’t show up at THMQ for a day, and miss some of the best conversations in a long time? Dammit! My way-too-late 2 cents. I hate being in bars or restaurants where people smoke. I love that SF, for the most part, is smoke-free. You’ll find some skanky dives that ignore the rule, but for the most part, it’s much nicer without. No, I may not be looking for my health in a bar, but I still find other people’s cigarettes gross. And UHG, if you weren’t able to find bars in CA, you obviously weren’t in SF. I can take you around to at least five bars on my street that are neither restaurants, nor clubs. OK, maybe they serve pizza or something, but still - bars.

Good to see Claw in the TMHQ. He always brings the edge that I’m looking for. Claw, if you read this, I saw your comment about serious things like discussions of surgeries. I’m the one who has most recently had one, and I would still love your humor. I’m a big boy, you can make light of a shitty situation.

We get mostly decent people as guests–they are generally pleased to be getting a bit of a vacation if they are here for leisure or, if they are here on business, they are generally pleased to be not staying at a cookie-cutter hotel.

But we do occasionally get assholes, to be blunt. The last really nasty one we had was a guy who was all worked up that he had to park in the larger overflow parking lot, which increased his walk to the door by about thirty feet. He complained all evening about it and then complained to me again in the morning about it. I must have repeated, “I am sorry you were inconvenienced” about twenty times. Luckily, he told me he was not going to come back, so I won’t have to deal with him again.

    Dear TMHQ,

Please excuse RunBarbara for being late today. She has been trying not to puke and/or choke on her tonsils. Thank you.
