Man, don’t get me started on Confederate Flags. And of course every other truck has a sticker that clarifies “heritage not hate”…whatever.
You know, the swastika is actually a symbol of peace in eastern culture but it’s still not something you’ll see too many hippies adorning themselves with here.

I went to school in DC and one year drove to Miami from DC (never. ever. ever. agin.) we were on 1/4 tank of gas halfway through SC, pulled into a gas station and saw nothing but pickups with gun racks and dixie flags and decided to just keep going and hope the car would run on NoDoz .

We took a magic 8-ball out to the diamond and played home run derby to see who got to take a cut at it. I was edged out by Mike Bogdan who made solid contact on his first swing. That 8-ball exploded and that blue juice got all over him. Three weeks later he was diagnosed with leukemia and he died. His parents were into faith healing so he was pretty miserable at the end, but he believed that God had a plan so he was chipper about it.
It didn’t stop there. Jeff Davis was playing baseball a few months later and slid into home only to have a black chard of plastic puncture an his leg. He got an infection and they had to amputate. Tommy Boiarski was sitting on a bench near the field the next year when the die with the messages on it got picked up by a mower and launched into his skull. He’s still living with his parents and working at the local grocery store because of permanent brain damage.

I saw on wikipedia it was a King who started it… said people couldn’t drink alcohol without eating something in a tavern… so they came up with appetizers to be able to eat as little as possible while still being allowed to drink.

Tapas, or small plates rock. We had a little place near our offices that had some great tapas (the tuna tartar was superb) and they were half price at happy hour.
The idea started in Spain where people stay out late. instead of eating a big meal in the evening Spaniards would eat a couple of small plates throughout the night. Americans should really embrace that idea…along with siestas. I’d love to nod off for a few hours in the afternoon.

Wade I did notice a lot of restaurants do claim a tapas menu these days - I like traditional Catalanese (sp?) tapas though, I can make a meal out of appetizers anywhere without them slapping that title on it
