I just noticed that all the threads are stopping at 100 posts…even there were more showing a little while ago. The counter shows more, and in Recent Comments posts show up that are not visible from the thread.

BTW- The home schooling only applies to my daughters. The public schools in our area were still working when the 30 y/o graduated and moved on to college. The 22 y/o graduated from Seton Hall Prep (Catholic) before college.

Did not mean to imply that they were all taught at home or that either my wives or I are super-human in nature. :-)

    Sep 28, 2007 at 8:23 pm

  • #884  Canthz_B

They know their Mom would kill them otherwise! LMAO

No, seriously, it really is not hard to raise good kids. You DO have to be involved in the process to make it work though.
My oldest step-son(30) is a certified underwriter at a major insurance company, My second step-son (22) is a registered pharmacy technician at a national pharmacy chain, and my girls (19 and 21) are college students.
I’ve never had a problem with any of them.
If that is story-book I sure hope it ends, “And they lived happily ever after.”

Haha, so Cantz you are telling me that you’re girls are well adjusted, articulate and childless. Hell you must be out of a story book. Lol

Don’t you hate when people assume stuff about you?

    Sep 28, 2007 at 8:03 pm

  • #881  Canthz_B

@Mishee No my kids are not nor have they ever been socially challenged. They have belonged to social groups such as the Girl Scouts of America and have participated in group sports. They are normal well adjusted young ladies in college and childless.
Home schooling does not mean house arrest.

    Oh, did I say “arrest”?

BTW…you can surmise all you like about me, but unless or until one of my very articulate daughters addresses you I hope you will refrain from musing about their personalities…Thanx Mish.

  • #874  morpho aurora

mish - i was playing - yeah i’ve met the weird ones too, down here it’s the ones who are home schooled for religious reasons (think david koresh types)

as far as the google ads - i am not admitting to having any responsibility for that! it’s the guys fault
    those dirty old men!! :P

    Sep 28, 2007 at 3:12 pm

  • #873  Mishee

MA, just to make sure my intended point comes across, I don’t think ALL homeschooled kids are weird, but the ones I have met sure are!!

    Sep 28, 2007 at 3:05 pm

  • #872  Mishee

Ok, this google ad just needed to be shared!

    Dirty Mens Underwear!
Buy & Wear a hot men’s scent, jockstraps, briefs, adult fantasy

    Looking for AussieBum?
or just looking for hot underwear, get it at Artificial Flavors

Now what do y’all talk about on this page to have google grab up keywords for this type of advertising??? :D

  • #871  morpho aurora

we home schooled my youngest brother and sister. the schools around here are not prepared to actually teach the kids with disabilities.
within a year, my baby sister had gone from not knowing the alphabet to reading just below her grade level. The teachers just wanted to stick her in a corner with some crayons.

btw, mishee, all 6 kids in my family are weird. :)

    Sep 28, 2007 at 2:52 pm

  • #870  Mishee

Canthz, I’ve met a few homeschooled kids, and quite frankly, I find them a little weird… I hope you didn’t raise a few socially retarded people cause that’s just a shame! I agree with Lola about needing interaction with other kids… it’s essential to the maturing process in my opinion…

but what’s the hell is my opinion worth on this site anyways?! :D

    Sep 28, 2007 at 10:58 am

  • #869  lola

canthz - that’s so awesome! some teachers think school is about kids conforming to their line of thinking and they forget about teaching

My IQ falls in the top 4% of the population, and all through school, teachers treated me like a leper because I would think outside the box and their tests and homework were no problem. I went to a Catholic school for 6 years, then switched to public and moved out-of-state 3 years later, so I’ve dealt with a lot of different teachers. It’s amazing when you get a teacher who doesn’t have to teach out of a teacher’s manual - lmao!

I don’t think I could homeschool my kids - they need the interaction with other children. They’ve been with momma for a LONG time now!

    Sorry, really long post :)

PS - Hubby is golfing. Are you shocked?

    G-man,

when my girls were in elementary school my youngest got a math grade marked as incorrect. The question was what is 6×7 and she answered 42.
The teacher said it was wrong because she drew 7 rows of six dots rather than 6 rows of seven. I kindly explained that my daughter had known her times table since she was four years old and only drew the dots because the teacher said you had to. That multiplication is not the same as counting. She told me times tables were memorization, not learning, so I asked her how long it would take to draw dots for some shit like 234 x 567. I told her if she ever marked a correct answer incorrect again she would hear from me. She complained to the principal, said she felt threatened.
That is when we took my kids out of public school and home schooled them.
